I might, but would need a backup plan. Last I checked most of the neighbors were OK with it but one got wide-eyed. I think the new neighbor might be OK too. It's only a quarter acre.

I can understand you not having a bigger yard. I have 3 cockerel's, plus that rooster that I mentioned earlier that's been running around in the yard for 6 month's over here.

Hi all! I'm moving to Tucson area here in the next few months and am SO EXCITED to finally be able to have a teeny bit of land to have chickens on once more! It's been many years since I've had my own fluffy butts and I couldn't be more excited!

If anyone has hen/chick recommendations, I would love to hear them. Open to all breeds right now and goodness knows I'll be another victim of chicken math soon enough.

Welcome to BYC and to the Arizona thread! Omg I’m excited for you! I honestly hope you like the area and have fun with your new babies! Just remember that Tucson still has a ton of wildlife! Coyotes and a lot of other wildlife run through the city even though people try to play it off like they don’t tsk tsk!! Which means once you build your coop make sure it has a lid and predator deterrents and just to play it safe scorpion deterrents. While your babies are little you don’t want them playing other those nasty buggers.

If you go for feed store babies, look at their tags for information on the breed. Or I have a hatchery booklet that Cal Ranch gave me which has information on the poultry they sell and should have suggestions for heat and cold hardy birds . I can look at it thoroughly and post pics to the thread for you or type it out!

It's a government site. Maybe check your computer or antivirus settings? They can try to deter you from web sites that are perfectly OK because they don't recognize their security certificates.

Cute chicks! Guess you could call him a roadrunner mix and post pictures. That should irritate a few people enough that they'll try to figure him out.

My chicks are a little over two weeks old. I'm hoping the guy who said he'd help me revive the old chicken coop does something soon, otherwise I'm going to have to rig something up for them.

Oh, you are soooo not going to believe this!

Recently rodents have been hanging around after the chicken feed. I set several different types of traps, and this morning I caught one in a live catch trap. OK, so now what do I do with it? I look on line, and this web site suggests taking it to the vet, treating its wounds, and having the vet spay or neuter it before releasing it. What sane person would do this? I don't know about you, but if I asked my vet to do this, I'd probably hear some language you can't print here. You are right. We seem to want to save everything except for people these day's, huh? They are even trying to build up the Mexican Wolf population here now. Like we don't already have enough coyote's?
