I don't know who started it. They were playing tag with one of the babies when I walked out there. One would have the prize and the other's were chasing and trying to take it like they do with any other food (like mice or caterpillar's if they spot any). The noise from the peeping chick's hatching is probably what drew the attention to them.

That's right! I had to learn it on my own as a beginner. Being able to know ahead of time would have made thing's so much easier. Just like some human mother's, broody hen's don't always make a good mother.

Well I just realized - I can't have that broody sitting because I will probably be in FL again just as they hatch (if they hatch). I can't make my DH figure out if they are ok or not with the broody as a mamma. He has too much on his plate and that is not his strength. SO I'm taking the eggs out and will wait til late July or August to try to hatch (incubator or broody hen if available).

As long as the chick's have time to feather out properly before the cold temp's come so that they can get used to it, it should be ok. You could also use a heat lamp at night out there in the grow-out pen if the temp's drop down to low at night.

August hatch should be fine up here near Prescott. That was when I hatched my almost-year-olds last year. Although I'm not going to keep them inside this time if I can help it. So good pointer - I have a brooder plate heater (instead of heat lamp) that I've used outside.

I've started to see more bunnies, or maybe just one bunny hanging around my garden. Maybe they are recovering from the disease that went thru last year? Or maybe this one is the sole survivor who was immune to it?

I guess that you will soon know, if you start seeing more of them. Remember, they are rabbit's and they multiply fast. There's no shortage of rabbit's over here if you need some more of them!

I'm seeing more bunnies over here also. In my area though, I'm thinking it's because they're coming back after the Goodwin fire--in 2017 or 2018 I think.
