Arizona Chickens

I could but they really like the shaded area of my garden so I may just try to move it since it wasn’t so successful where it was. 😊
Welcome Tdwhite4098 -- We're glad you're here! I know everyone's setup is very different - If you want some tips on how to protect plants from chickens you could check out EdibleAcres on YT. He has plants INSIDE his run protected in many interesting ways. You may find some inspiration there.

I was in Mesa on Sunday nite - LOTS o' rain and wind. No storm damaage to us in west Mesa but I did travel along Brown near Center and a huge pine was uprooted and leaning on the roof of Fellowship Square assisted living. Other huge branches and many smaller trees downed along my errand route.

Got LOTS of rain in Chino Valley while I was gone. I didn't even have to fill the Lazy River for the chickens when I got back since DH put up a gutter Saturday to direct 1/4 more of the pole barn runnoff to it -worked great!

I'm thinking that one of my Bielefelder girl's is going broody. For the past 3 day's she's been sitting in the nesting box on the fake egg's. If one of the other girl's lay's an egg in the other nest box, then she moves to that box. I am able to pick her up and move her out of the boxes though without her pecking me, but when I leave she will go back to sitting in the nesting box.

My suggestion is Incubator inside home. Explanation is below :old :gig

I guess I have two laying now! The one who laid the first, light tinted egg, dropped another from the roost (or later). It wasn't broken but someone put their claw in it. Then just now a smaller egg (29 g I think) with a darker olive tint, in the planter nest box! Then the crested one, who I think laid the first two, is in the planter now. It must be the pea combed one who laid the olive egg. Or maybe the crested one who looks like a legbar (but red ear lobes) is the olive egger and she just got back into the box after laying the olive egg, and the black ameraucana/EE laid the lightly tinted one. With only two laying so far I should be able to figure it out. Cool having colored eggs though. The tan, speckled and darker eggs are from my grown hens for comparison. They're 2.5 to 2.9 oz.

You're going to have a gorgeous bunch of eggs! 😍

Geesh, and here I thought that @cavemanrich was offering to come down here and make us some breakfast. :lau
You know I will come,, and surprise everyone someday. In the meantime,, just wanted to brag a bit with the egg sandie I made for my Grandson, other day. No,,, I did not do it on the sidewalk :old :gig
On a well buttered skillet, I first heated up 2 slices of ham. set those on the side, and started toasting the bread. One slice has the center removed with a cup cutout. Dropped 2 eggs into that cavity. When halfway cooked, I flipped that egg holding slice of bread, and placed ham, and slice of cheddar cheese on top. Covered with second bread slice. Removed from skillet, and placed egg side on top. The round cutout, was also toasted. Didn't want GS to feel he was being short-changed.
GS was impressed, and liked the taste as well:drool:drool:drool
Wonder if it was tasty due to those Country, City fresh eggs:idunno
