Loving this nicer weather!

A couple days ago, my new cockerel, Lucky, did his first cockle doodle doo!

Been busy getting the house ready for a visit from my son and daughter-in-law. They are flying out Saturday. Somehow getting ready ended up including re-painting the guest bathroom. :p ... which led to new shower curtain, new mat, change of wall hangings (haven't figured those wall hangings out yet).

It's good that you didn't lose that one. Your chick's are 10 day's older then mine.

We are supposed to have some decent weather this week.
Yes, it was lucky timing (for a change!) for me. It shouldn't be below freezing for at least a week up here, and no rain either for a while. Yay!

That's good! I was wondering how those 3 that you got from me were doing! Yes, it's been a nicer day out there today.

Yes, and they say it should be in the 70's here this week, My flock is enjoying the nicer weather. I think that I might be having a hen starting to go broody on me, so I'm going to be keeping an eye on her for the next few day's in case I have to put her in broody jail.

It's supposed to be 82F here on Friday. 😱 Too soon, too soon!

:love Beautiful!!

Bluebaby, I might have asked you this before as I fiddle endlessly with coop designs but since Bielefelders are larger birds do you think they need more run space than the usual 10 sq ft minimum per bird rule?
i currently have 9 of those hens out there with my rooster. I do not free range. My coop is tall and is 4 feet by 8 feet. My attached covered pen is 8 feet by 16 feet. There have been times out there before i have sold a few w that I had had up to 15 to 16 in there at once. I do have 2 of those xlg wire dog crates out there that I use one for grow out chick's, and the other one for either a broody jail to break a broody hen, or to put any extra rooster in there if there is a problem with one. I covered the top of those crates with boards and some like to sleep on top of them, especially when we get that summer heat. I guess it's cooler for them.
