Arizona Chickens

Yes, and he doesn't know that he is a chicken. :lau
He is a human child if you ask him, that eats worms and grit and chick food!

We took him to Target to pick up meds for me, and the ladies at starbucks asked if he can have a pup cup. I said sure make him a "cluck cup" and they did. He didn't want it. He kept trying to bury it. The girls here had a blast and ate the whole thing!

I hope that he didn't pick up something that is effecting his respiratory system.

Do you have a recent picture of the little Naked Neck chick and the other one that you got from over here? Just those 2 together. I want to see if they are boy's or girl's yet. I know that you just want to have the boy's though since you gave them boy's names. :gig
I'll get pics of them in the morning! They show no signs of wattle or large combs yet. But they are just so cute! Joe wants to cuddle all the time when I am with them. John says they wanna be left alone cause I kiss the top of their head since it's still so soft and downy. :lau

I hope he didn't either, I think though that it might be all the dust from my parent's house a well as the fine pine shavings they bought to go into their (chicken) boxes, but until I know for sure he's being kept away from everyone and all the others are isolated too. Also giving him and the others honey and ACV just to be on the safe side in the morning then in the afternoon purely water.

I have meds (Denagard that's all I could find at the time If y'all have suggestions for something else please let me know) for him if needed. I just have to make sure to find the right dosage. Don't want to poison the child :caf

Sounds like you're doing well with him. I use tetracycline for respiratory illnesses but it's prescription only. If you can get it, it works on gram negative and gram positive bacteria. Almost all respiratory disease in chickens are bacteria driven. If you can't get tetra, I know Tractor supply carries tylosin which is often good enough. Or did that new law kick in and it's not available without prescription already? If it's still legal to sell, it's a good one too though it's only good against gram positive bacteria. Another good source for antibiotics is fish meds.

How's he doing this morning?

O...forgot to add that good bacteria rich foods like kefir, activa yogurt etc can help too. The good bacteria can help make it harder for the bad bacteria to survive. It's the same reason vinegar can help. The healthy fermentation yeasts and bacteria like acidic conditions and they create it just by multiplying. The bad bacteria like neutral pH and struggle in a high pH environment.

He is just fine! I had him out and about and the dust that came off that boy made my nose run like crazy!

If it bothers my nose I know it’s bothering his! Poor baby. Off the fine shavings and onto flakes! We thought the fine would be good since absorbs messes and is fun for dust bathing. But me and my chickens could be allergic to the stuff! Especially since we have the older hens on hay and they don’t sneeze at all but everyone on the shavings sneeze! Dumb shavings! Use it to start the grill :barnie

That's good to know. I've never tried the fine... sounds awful 😕

I cannot with this bird! I almost had a coronary! I thought he had died when I wasn’t looking until I saw him breathing!! He is asleep!

Rugby is trying to kill me! Look at him!

A couple days ago when it was really hot and sunny all the chickens were dust bathing and spread out sunning themselves looking like they are lame or dead. I always double check to see that they're alive...lol.
Yes, they do have a habit of sometimes making you do a double check to make sure that they are ok.
