Arizona Chickens

In my area,, things went the opposite direction. Adjacent suburb to ours had forever a ban on chickens and ducks also. No idea about rabbits. But I don't think those were banned.
Well,, here we don't have dictators. :old .. The DECISION to have backyard chickens allowed went to a VOTE. :thumbsup
The tribe has spoken. Chickens are now allowed.:highfive:

As it should be, and if you don't like your local tribe then you can always move.

A couple days ago when it was really hot and sunny all the chickens were dust bathing and spread out sunning themselves looking like they are lame or dead. I always double check to see that they're alive...lol.
It scares me when they are doing that! My EE's lay on their sides for a few before kicking dust all over themselves and in that time they just lay there looking dead. I always go over and poke them which they don't like but I don't care. I don't want to think "Oh they are just dust bathing" and find out the hard way they were not just dust bathing Lol

We had some big thunder booms and a little rain this afternoon! Woohoo! A tip for anyone who hasn't built a coop yet or might be looking to move theirs: rain is a good time to observe water patterns on the ground. Watch where the water runs and pools. That will give you some ideas about where the best location is for your coop.

In other news, a woman I know who lives in Oklahoma said her city of about 25,000 people passed an ordinance last week banning backyard chickens/quail/rabbits. Fine is $5000 and two months in jail, can you believe that?! She had both chickens and rabbits, all had to be canned or frozen. She is devastated. They tried to fight it but couldn't get the signatures they needed in time.

There are some people out there who are determined to stop anyone from growing and raising their own food. Keep your eyes and ears open and pay attention to local politics.
Lordy that is crazy. I cannot imagine not being able to have my chickens. I feel blessed that the people around me love my chickens. When we butchered Roobert so many kept asking me where my rooster was. They missed his crowing. Mind he was in the garage so he couldn't really annoy them so LOL they had no idea how loud he could be. He wasn't that loud anyways but ya know don't want to make the people hate me when I want to have a happy flock of babies.

If that's their reasoning, it sure would be a lame excuse. Most places already have laws that require one to keep one's dogs in their own yard. I think there must be more behind the passing of that ordinance. What that might be is difficult to guess. I can't imagine any logical justification for it. :(
Perhaps "BIG chicken" powers-that-be are lobbying against it to protect their flocks that are prone to disease and point the finger at small flock owners as a source of their problems if even one backyard chicken owner is found with disease. Other small livestock like rabbits or quail are thrown in the law to get uninformed everyday people on board with the new law so they think there are no noise, disease or pest problems next door to them. It's all jealousy and power grabs - both against God's law "do not covet". The only people who will be able to feed themselves (even partially) will be/are no longer in cities.

This baby boy is so pretty! His coloring is gorgeous and his personality is so great! He better remain this sweet or I will be having a “sweet” meal 😭.

His little face when I asked him if we were going to Walmart today to get more greens for the older hens.

They want you to buy and eat that "lab grown meat". I think that those people must be in on it too.

You hatched him, so he's your baby! :lau

I woke up earlier this morning to small chips of duck egg's laying on the flooring in the incubator. I don't think that they want to wait until Saturday to hatch.
I just went in there and looked closely at the bill's that are poking out of 3 of the duck egg's. It's 2 boy's and a girl so far.

Hahahah don’t I know it! I told him that he had to stay home cause I have to go to Tucson to see my Rheumatologist and that lady keeps her office freaking freezing!! Which is crazy to me since she works with people who have bad joints like come on!

Anyways when I told him I had to go he tried following me out the door. Had Jayden pick him up and all he did was scream because I was leaving without him. Poor thing. 😂😂😂
