That was some storm. We spent almost an hour standing in 10" of water and mud, holding onto tarps, trying to keep rain out of the coop. It's in the most protected part of the yard, a corner sheltered by a brick wall, two buildings and a tree, and it was still hit pretty hard.
The poor chickens. This was their first storm and they cowered in a big pile in one corner, terrified by all the noise and chaos and water. They almost crushed the four at the bottom of the pile including our smallest pullet, Snow. I risked escapees by opening a door to move them off the bottom ones. They all seem okay now.
Tomorrow I'll have to build something else predator-proof for them to live in for a few days while I clean out the soaked shavings and dry everything out and repair the damage. My roommate is going out of town so I'll have to do that on my own.
Also I think one of our beautiful golden EEs is a cockerel.
