I don't see how that would hurt, as I use the instant regular oatmeal. I cook it first though, and add some of their feed to it after it's cooked, and sometimes mix in other stuff that they can eat.

Motion-activated sprinkler. You'd have to set it up so it doesn't fire at your chickens or pets, but would hose a hawk. They run 40-200 bucks depending on features but you can get them everywhere.
