Arizona Chickens

Pretty hens!

Good morning everyone!

My sick pullet seems to be getting better. She was standing when I went to change the water this morning. Not a "precariously balanced" stand, but if I'm lucky, a "I am getting better and still don't like you" stand. It was still ptich black, so I don't know for sure, but I am optimistic. Here's hoping!

EDITED: I am not sure why, but I dig the blue color. Am I just a sucker for the trend, or are they kinda neat?

Laree I love the Blue also/that is why I have a blue Roo for my cochins/and I just hatched some Blue JG's/so my future flock will be BBS-Cochins and Jersey Giants so cool!! my cochins are Ideal birds so not show but hardy/ My JG's are from fellow BYCers Wynette/Pamspride.I also really love Your coop hope Your hen recovers!!

Mahalo4, Oh, they are beautiful! I have been leaning toward the blue color also. Your little Roo is so cute. Was he getting ready to crow? Let me know if you want to sell 1 or 2 of them. I am not set up to hatch eggs, so that can't happen. Thank you so much for posting the photos. I have just got to have some Bantam Cochin's. I can't open the little Bed and Breakfast at the Cochin House, with out Cochin's.

Autumn is just around the corner down here (hopefully

). Things finally seem to be cooling down (5 degrees

). Hmm.... The chickens stoped panting. Thats a good sign, right? I hope so. I'm so done with summer right now. It was way too hot for any of my animals to handle this year.

......The winter visitors seem to be packing in quickly. More traffic, more licence plates saying "Wisconsin," or "Nebraska."

How's everybody else doing?

OOOoooo! Mahalo I would love some BBS cochin eggs! Are they bantams or LF? I really want some LF Cochins. Well, actually I would LOVE some Buff Columbians and Molted LF Cochins to try to get a LF Mille Fleur Cochin! Soooo pretty!!!!! But, I doubt I will find anyone locally that has any, and I don't want to ship eggs anymore. Too disappointing!

Well, I hope you all are doing well!

I have a question about heat durning the winter for chickens. Do you at all? I ask because my uncle never did and his chickens were always fine, but I don't know.
What do you use in the coop? All day and night or just night time? Thanks

Blckbrn, you really shouldn't need to heat your coop unless it gets extreemly cold. Just make sure they have a nice wide perch (2x4 wide side up) so they can keep their toes tucked under their feathers. Also, make sure their coop is free from drafts at night. They will snuggle together on the perch and keep each other warm. They sould be just fine.

Mahalo, Chandler would be perfect! You keep me informed as to when your girls get a little more regular. I did see your GLC Roo on CL and I really wanted to get him, but I have no room for another rooster right now. I have about 15 that are being raised for the freezer right now. I hope you found him a good home...

Tofu, thanks so much for the offer, but I am really done with shipping eggs right now. I've had so many $21-$30 chicks that I can't afford to do it anymore. It is very kind of you to offer! Thanks...
