Arizona Chickens

Happy Halloween!

Well the ridiculous amount of work needed to get the yard ready for the baby's party is almost done. I pulled out the non-producing radiccio and hung it up in the coop. My big roo gave me the stink-eye because I made him work for it. Now to clean the house....

I stopped by the Western Ranchman Feed Store today to pick up some scratch and saw hundreds of cutie patootie fluffy butts! I had the kiddos with me, so I parked next to the pen, opened the slide doors, and let the kids ooh and ahh from their car seats while I ran in to pay.

For some reason, the DH and MIL don't believe we didn't buy any....

Anyway, as soon as the human kids are done napping, it is pumpkin carving time and then Trick or Treating! Have a spooky night!

Does anyone know how to butcher chickens. Like is there a sanitation wash to put them through or do you just wash them in soapy water. My friend is asking me about how to butcher them once they slaughter them and I do not know how to keep it all clean and sanitary before putting them in the freezer. We talked about this plan. Her husband would kill and get the feathers off of them then I was to butcher them.., now that the day is getting closer I am wondering how to keep it all clean.

The Arizona Humane Society has a low cost spay / neuter clinic. There is a location in Sunnyslope, I'm not sure if they also have one at their South Mountain facility.
