Arizona Chickens

yup, Flower Street! (my dad lives on 87th ave and flower, so that caught my eye) Strangely enough, Dad has chicken issues too....

We were driving around, and I thought, "Now I KNOW Mahroni wouldn't let his birds run loose like this." and "Where are everyone's dogs?"

Phoenix heritage? Really? Sounds like milarkey, but I really wouldn't try to catch any, unless it was my bushes 50 birds were laying under every day. Whew! Imagine the stink, or worse: the snakes.

I don't think I've ever seen a dog on that street... the neighborhood would be certain that never happened..

They are proud of their wild chickens... did you see the sign "Slow-Chicken Crossing"?

I use to live in the house just to the west of that until we moved north.

You live up by Western Ranchman don't you? You were a long ways from home!

I do, but I work on 44th and Thomas, so I take Shea down. Takes 10 minutes during rush hour. Since it was 9am on a Saturday, we just cruised up the side streets looking for garage sales. The 4 year old gets a kick out of hustling people out of their toys, baby takes a nap, I get random things that I turn into chicken things.... Good family fun.

Really, we were is only 8 miles from the house. My parents are divorced, so my childhood was spent being shuttled back and forth--87th ave & thomas to Val Vista and Baseline, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other weekend. The DH was shuttled (litterally) from PV mall to Tombstone every other weekend.

I am looking for a Golden Laced Wyandott.....My three babies are doing well but I have four more I still want to get.

Aden's said they are getting in Polish, Silkies, and speckled Sussex on Feb 12. I can add the GLW to that order. I was hoping to find chicks sooner before mine get to old...I guesss that is just not going to happen. If mine are a month old before I add the other babies will there be a problem with pecking order at this age?

My hubby made me the same feed bucket. I need to find a cheap way to make a waterer. I do not have a way to do an auto waterer but I do not want to be fooling around with water constantly during the summer. Suggestions?

Here is the little guy (blue Silkie) who needs a new place to call home...... Any takers, let me know

Mahonri~ I sell them for 18.00 but if you just want to come by and see how to make one that is okay too. I don't mind showing you. Normally I sell the 2.5 gallon ones for 10.00 and the 5 gallon for 18.00 but I am out of small ones at the moment.

Hey are you guys talking about the wild chickens that live in the school bus at the end of the street somewhere over in that neighborhood? I had some people come and tell me they tried to catch some but they got in trouble. If you think the chickens are crazy I had another lady come a while back telling me about some neighborhood in central phoenix somewhere that is over run with parakeets and cockatiels!!!! I have never personally seen the wild chickens of the phoenix serengeti but there must be tons and tons of them because people have been telling me about them for years.

Yeah, we also have wild parakeets/ budgies and Parrots in the neighborhood.

One street over, the green parrots roost in the trees like pigeons.

Looks like I planted my garden too soon.... we are going to get non stop rain ALL week.

Yep three storms back to back with no breaks. The news report I saw must have been lying because they said North and East of Phoenix could expect up to 10 inches by thursday with flash flooding possible by friday. They also said that Phoenix Sky Harbor was expecting at least 2 inches. I just can't imagine what phoenix would do with ten inches of rainfall in two days!!! Better get to blowing up that dry rotted raft out in the garage
