Arizona Chickens

Wow - too many posts for me to keep track so here are some random ramblings

to our new friend.

ONLINE CHICKEN SHOW: fabulous. Loved the photos. Good job.

INCUBATORS IN PROGRESS: Hope things are going well. Do post pics.

LAREE - cool dark eggs. cute chicks.

AUSTRALORP FRIZZLE - If I wanted a new bird, this one would interest me.

MOHONRI - Sounds like things are getting busier at your house, but with good news.

OUT OF TOWNERS - welcome to phoenix!

BABY CHICKS & BROODY - I have heard to wait about 3 weeks. Let us know how it goes if you do it after only one. My poor broodies last year looked pretty ragged by the time I finally broke them. Next time I will do that right away - or give them some eggs/chicks. I was sad when I realized how shrivled and pale their combs were after sitting on those golf balls.

INSULATED SHIPPING CONTAINERS - They sound very interesting. Thanks for posting the link.

LAREE - did you bring home the roof?

Edited for typo/spelling.

No roof. Saw the ad a day to late. Gosh that would have been perfect for a number of things!

OK, I will let the broody sit on a few of her own eggs. And no Cluckin, the offspring will not lay little tiny green booger eggs.

I think im looking at the wrong bird. It's tiny!

You're lookin' at the right one.

They may be small, but they are full of personality. We have a Birchen pair and 3 silver duckwing hens. Love 'em!

I'd like to know too. :3

IM SO EXCITED! Im picking my coop up at 3:30 PM today! EEKK! EKKK!
It is raining though...Tarp!

I can't wait to paint it and hang the feeders. Has anyone ever use those PVC gravity feeders?
Might be a good idea to save room with those...

Good personality,
They eat very little,
3 OEGBS = 1 big chicken (space wise)
Powerhouse layers. Mine never miss a day.
And they lay BIG eggs for such a little bird.
The sizzle in this picture is almost touching the OEGB egg. There are little white ones and cream ones.

Wow! Look at the size of that egg. What a surprise. Are they loud at all?
Thanks for the PVC feeder picture! Looks like a great plan for me to use.

Another pic. Buff Orp's first egg and my OEGB's first egg, laid within minutes of each other.

Other comparisons:

ignore the notes in that pic.

They seem to talk more, and their egg song is at the top of their lungs. Less noisy than my other birds and 100xs less noisy than my nieghbor's 25 buff orps. However, "at the top of their lungs" sounds like a squeaky toy.
