Arizona Chickens

Mohonri - Take care of that back. Have you tried physical therapy? Just curious. It is one of the things that I have found that has actually helped me in the past...but I suspect my injuries were more minor. On the same subject, I recently picked up this book which comes with the mentioned balls: http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Ball-...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274116238&sr=1-1 My neighbor raves about them. I haven't been in enough pain to be serious about doing it, but it makes sense to me.

NewChickenMomma - Welcome to the AZ thread!

Laree - keep taking care of yourself...and I concur - you are quite entertaining! Great job to you and your DH on the dog door. Very nice.

JoelDavid - so sorry about the lost birds.

on job. Can meat rabbits be kept as pets?

AZNessa - How was the retreat?

ALL - accpet my apologies if I got the wrong name on the wrong subject.

CENSUS - I spend a lot of time looking at old census records researching my own Family History and helping others do so. To me they are almost sacred in all the information they provide for those seeking out their history. I am so thankful to those faithful workers in times past that found my ancestors on the edge of the wilderness farms ... ancestors who I suspect lived out there for privacy among other things. I am also mildly annoyed at the ancestors who gave different answers every 10 years on things that could have been helpful clues in finding even more of my history. Most of those old records are hand written, and more than once I have been filled with deep gratitude for county clerks etc who had careful and readable penmanship in recording whatever record I was reviewing. Today I offer my deepest thanks to those of you doing the work for future generations who will want to learn about their ancestors. I am sure it is ugly and hot and frustrating. Thank you for your diligence.

Cheerful,
Ty. Havent heard a call yet. Went today for another job interview. I COULDN'T EVEN FIND THE PLACE! It was at 9am and I spent an hr and half looking for it.
I just got home and their phones are all full and the message boxes are too. I'll keep trying in hopes to re-schedule but.....arg!

Meat rabbits aren't like meat chickens. The only thing that makes them meat rabbits is size and how fast they mature, which rabbits tend to do slowly anyway.
As long as you care for them properly like any rabbit they will be a good even weight and of health. A rabbits temperament begins it's bases on the parents temperamentally and genetics.
There are exceptions but most of the time if you come across a socialized yet crabby rabbit there is a nasty parent/grand parent in the works.
Larger rabbits tend to be calmer and relaxed while a small rabbit like the Netherland Dwarf is high strung. So yeah meat rabbits can be kept as pets. Their just bigger!

Joel: For rare, unusual breeds like the ones that Greenfire Farms imports, those are standard prices. Importing chickens is not easy or cheap, and that pushes up the price, especially since they are the only ones who have most of the breeds they offer. It isn't worth it to me, but I'm just in it for the eggs, and the eggs that my hatchery stock birds lay eggs that are just as tasty as the ones laid by more expensive birds. Although those Lemon Cuckoo Orphingtons are some seriously pretty birds.

I actually own a set of those balls. I bought them at Cosco. They were only $10 so I figured what did I have to lose? I wish I could tell you how well they work, but I have not given them the chance. Shame on me as the woman who created them is no dummy! I would be willing to bet that they work, but it would take making the commitment to spend the time every day.

My excuse: Those of us who live with pain for years and years who have tried so many things that end in disappointment, or worse, more pain, find that it is easier to just live with what we got. Don't have the time or patience to spend more money and time on me and my problem that doesn't seem to be fixable anyway. Any treatment causes/requires focus on the pain. I'd rather focus on something else. Anything else. It's been 7 years, I can't help but doubt that it is going away any time soon.

I don't know if that is a poor excuse, but it was something I didn't understand until I had lived with pain for several years. It is just my guess that others who live with pain might feel similarly.

But since you reminded me about them, I am going to get them out right now and perhaps commit to a schedule of time to see if they help. We will see. As I recall, it hurt to lay on them...

CheerfulHeart2 - Hurry up and ask, the suspense is killllling me! Also, thank you for the nice posting about the census. I didn't realize how useful it would be for people researching their family history! Do you know how I can look up the ones that my great grandparents filled out?

I like the name "Tucson Tofu" I wonder if it can be changed?

LareePQG - Do you have a link for a tutorial or anything on the stain glassed skylight? It sounds awesome. How is it put together? I like the second stained glass rooster!

ArizonaNessa - Way to go!

I figured they look to be an impressive breeder and that those prices would be legit but wow. They do have some real pretty birds on the site though. Too rich for my blood, the again being a Scandinavian mutt with viking boys named Bjorn and Lars the thought of haveing pretty Swedish Chickens does appeal. Plus it immediately brings to mind the Swedish Chef and all those chickens on the Muppets!
