I hear you...So far the houses around me have said they are aware of their presence, like watching them and that they aren't loud. I am afraid I will be pushing my luck with the neighbors with Oatmeal now louder than ever. My Father thinks that the HOA might only become involved when the neighbors complain since the coop isn't very visible from over the fence.
Ugh this sucks. When I go near the coop/run the noise erupts. Maybe if I stay out of there and came back after my trip the chicks will be big enough to live in a cage in the run. I mean, Pooky the EE is not nearly as loud as her, are RIR meant to be loud?
My thought on this is that Pooky will have a happier life if she can stay with you ... and if she need to be lonely for a few weeks to do that, that is well worth it. Once the HOA is involved...you may loose your chance to have them. Just a thought. At my house the chicks run with the hens. The hens tolerate a lot from the chicks...but BA's are gentle to start with and they have known the chicks since they were a few days old...and the chicks have mommas to watch over them. Maybe your Dad can go say hi to Pooky every day while your are gone.
Sorry, i wasn't very clear. The whole human family is going, it's a big wedding.
While were gone I have a friend coming over to feed my animals and a house sitter. I'm hoping Oatmeal will keep her squawking down since humans are normally her loud switch. By using the larger feeder and waters I have available I hope to make it so nothing has to be replaced in my absence and siren will be undisturbed. At least that is the plan. I don't think I can take her away becuase Pooky might become just as loud and stressed without me there too.
