Arizona Chickens

That's why it's so great that there are so many kinds of chickens. Everyone has different reasons for having them.
We can only have a few(6 right now), so production is pretty important to me with a family of 5.

P.S. I have pictures of mine on my page if you want to see them.

Hey, did you see my post a few pages back? Your dog looks so much like mine and you're from the same city... now you have me wondering if she was one of our puppies! We bred ours 5-6 years ago in Gilbert... they were AKC, and dad is Ben (MacsBrawnyBentley)

I doubt it, but they look so much alike!

She is 6 years old, but we got her from someone way up NW in the Cactus Min Schnauzer club. We were in agility with the bigger one at the time and we met the breeder through that.

I think it would actualy be nice to have a chicken that lays a little fewer then my hens now. We get 6 a day, sometimes they take a break on day 7 and sometimes on day 8. My hens now GLW, SLW, BA, and EE are just laying machines. I always read and heard that brahmas were sweet.

Sexlinks are great chickens but I just don't like the redish/brown color chickens.

We have a family of 4 and we always have a fridge full of eggs. I looked at your pics and they are very nice. I love the color of the coop. I really need to update my page, I think it is at least 8 months old without my chickens even on it , just my ducks when they were little.

She has a ton of big cages set up with 3-4 hens and a rooster in each one. She has nice puffy silkies (I can't remember the colors, but gray or black I think. They make mine look ratty), orpingtons (her orp roo died a few months ago but maybe she has a new one), cochin mutts, easter eggers, cuckoo marans, uhm... I can't remember what else. There were tons. Also lots of ducks, peacocks, a few turkeys and an emu. She'll give you the mandatory tour of the place. It is worth going to see. She really loves her pets and it looked to me like she takes great care of everyone.

She is a really nice lady, and means well, but can't "sex" the chicks worth a darn. My pullets ended up being half roosters. However, I know someone else who bought chicks from her and they were all pullets just like he wanted. So, who knows. It might just be my rotten luck.

Thanks! I am excited! I hope I will be able to meet up with her, my kids will love it.

well, the 10 week old chicks have worms. i started the wazine this afternoon and will pull it tomorrow afternoon. does anyone know where i can buy ivermectin in north phoenix? i went to pratt's and stock shop with no luck. i was looking for the pour on. i only have 7 birds and don't need that much. i still can't believe they have worms. there was a small pile of them in the coop this morning when i went to let them out and clean off the droppings boards. at least they were dead. so gross. could this be why they have been having so many orange poos during the day or do we have cocci too? i just don't know what the heck i am doing.

Mahonri - I haven't read everything yet but I wish you lots of luck and love. It sounds like you really need it. :C

AZKat - That really sucks about your hatch! Arg! Your girls need to get it together. LOL.

I'm back prematurely. Work crap and court. Trip was great, sad becuase of my great grandmother and grandfather deep in dementia but im glad I had one last chance with them.

My chickens are up for sale if anyone is interested...let me know if this is too much to ask...

I just got home an hr ago so this is all for now folks.

RRR-That really stinks. I hope you find good homes for your chickens.

The one chick that did hatch successfully is doing great, he or she was out of the nest and eating today, it was really cute watching both moms showing the baby how to peck. I wish the hatch had been better, but they're turning out to be great moms.

Well, it looks like we've made a bit of temporary peace with the neighbors. Most of the chickens are still here.

My broody (Wheaten Ameraucana "Long Jean") that started with 9 eggs had 14 on Sunday so after candling and discarding she has 6. She is due on the 24th. We'll see what happens with the heat that is forecast for later in the week. All but one egg will be easter eggers.

We've had some drama around here in the past week. Too much to relate... long stories that I'm PRAYING will end up turning out alright.

I'll get some pics soon... my little red laced blue faverolle roo is going to be really beautiful if anyone wants an interesting faverolle roo, five toes and all!

SOOO glad you are doing ok and are able to keep the chickens!!!!

Let me know if you need anything! I will also pray that all turns out ok and you finally get some good luck for a while!

But if you get tired of any of those golden cucuco marans you know Im always here for you ROFL
