I stand corrected... I didn't know that a LARGE dk brown egg hatched. That means you either have a
BWA X Delaware or a BWA X GC Marans and most likely a pullet. If it's the marans... you are the first one to hatch one of her eggs and she'll be an olive egger.

I assumed it was Maran...it was very dark.

Just got done weed eating the yard and broke my weed eater!

I must be crazy cause it is HOT outside right now, but my yard looks GOOD.

These darn scovies really think they are inside ducks. I just put them out hoping they could go eat some of the grass clipping I just covered my pond with and nope right back at the back door they are.

I did my yard today too. I switched to a gas weed eater, you are welcome to my old electric one.

So my two year old prefers my computer look like this

I have it hooked up to the TV right now, this is the only thing I have ever bought the insurance on I guess that was a good thing.

Basil is out from the wire cage, I haven't found her in the nests at all today so hopefully she's broken of the broody spell for the time being. I'm curious while she was trying to be broody egg production almost ceased. Could she have been keeping everybody out and they stop laying because of it, they have been laying again.

I rearranged the coop a bit it seemed like my water was getting too much algae and I realized it was in the sun for a few hours in the am so I moved it to a place where it will be shade all day. I hope that does the trick, if not at least the water should be cooler.

Hey guys!
I'm looking for some chicks and ducklings in the Phoenix area. I'd rather buy from a private seller rather than a hatchery, and would like them to be under 3 weeks old, the younger the better. I'm not too picky about breeds - I'd like a variety of egg laying chickens (and a Polish would be fun, too), and a few ducks to eat bugs. Does anyone have any available around here, preferably east valley?

and to the Arizona thread.

If chick chalet doesn't have what you need, AZ Nessa might have some. Also, there is a breeder of sex links on the Gilbert/Chandler/Mesa border. I can find her number if you wish. AZ Kat got a bunch of babies recently and might also have some. I am sure there are others too. I have some 7 week roosters if you want some for the freezer or breeding EE. (I know, everyone has a surplus of roosters.)

TODDLER & PC: Bummer on that computer. Cool that you have a warranty. Heaven smiles on you today!

HEAT & YARD: Go amazing heat tolerant ones! I am sure your yards look great.

Mohonri - thank you again for the chick review. They are bigger already. It has been a week since I took those pictures. I don't see a differnece in the canary birds. They all look the same to me. What is your clue to roo vs pullet in them? Also I like the black birds so I am sad to hear roo...is it just that BWA offspring only have black if they are male?

DUCK: I second the cute ducks comment. I love the duck stories also. You are a great story teller.

Cap - great comment on heat. fun humor!

Laree - yippee for space for Turkeys!

joel david~ That sucks about your computer! I think a lap top is one of those things worth getting the insurance on expecialy when you have little ones running around. Thanks on the offer of your weed eater! If I were closer I would take you up on that quick. I used to have a huge gas sears weed eater but that one broke and my hubby bought me a small electric one. I have fallen in love with my little light electric weed eater. I liked the power behind the gas but my arms were always so sore after. Now I am one of those that is all for small electric easy on your arms.

Laree~ I wish I could have just 2 or 3 turkeys. I get a kick out of them.

Mahonri~

I got to tell my hubby about those and see what he says.

mydog8it~ There are a ton of people around you that have chickens and ducks. I am sure that you have already gotten responses. YOu could try looking on the auction part of BYC also.

CheerfuHeart2~ I do have a pretty amazing heat tolerance. I can be out there all day and enjoy myself.
