Arizona Chickens

Got to work and my 1.5 hour root canal failed his appointment. Since this is his second failed appointment, he won't be happy but he'll be charged. I feel badly to do that but I had other who would have loved his spot.

Got 6 eggs out of7 hens in my marans pen. I guess I've got to do a test hatch and sell the chicks. I'll have to take a pic of the eggs.

Yay for eggs! And beautiful photo!!!

My Ameruacanas abruptly stopped laying completely. I haven't gotten an egg in two weeks! The SLW's keep right on going. The other day I got 4 eggs out of that pen. I only have 3 hens. I'm assuming someone laid a egg late in the evening the day before and I didn't see it. I've got a broody too and she's a pain in the toosh. I gave her eggs and she won't sit on them and rolled them out of her nest.

Hi Zonies!

I'm ready to part with my small flock of bantam Brahmas, if anyone's interested. Most of them are two years old, gorgeous, friendly, mellow birds. Mostly buff and dark, a couple lights. One buff roo. They're originally from Ideal, the one I entered in last year's Cochise County fair won "best feather-legged bantam".

They've
been a great introduction to poultry raising, but my customers prefer large eggs.

We're in Palominas, between Sierra Vista and Bisbee.

Thanks!

Bryan

I've got some silver laced wyandotte eggs available if anyone has a broody. I'll be in the Mesa area in the morning. I'm happy to bring them if anyone needs them or wants to try to hatch them. No charge. PM me.

I got 6 eggs today. One from my Ameruacana !

The Cornish X arrived from Meyer yesterday. 26 of them, all healthy and peeping. GCKidd came by to pick up the ones she was taking earlier today. It was great to meet her, and show off my flock to her and her daughter. So now she's got 18 and I've got 7. Right now, my nuggets are brooding on the patio, I'll move them onto grass in a week or so. This is a total experiment, I hope everything goes well.

So nice to meet you yesterday, AZKat! Thanks for ordering up the chicks. I think I have 19. There were two extra, I thought. Anyway, they are resting comfortably in the most wonderful brooder my husband built for us. He put the big dog kennel up on stilts! It is at DD's chest level and perfect for tending to the little nuggets. I got a 250 watt red bulb and I didn't even wrap the kennel last night, just left the light on and they are nicely dispersed in there.

I will have to visit the meaties section today. I don't have a clue what I am doing...
