Arizona Chickens

NoSkivees I have a ready made coop in mind off craigs list and will make calls after work. I figure I can improve on it once it's in place. We'll make do with the larger chicken wire until mine comes in, an expand the run at that time.

Oh pooh. I called Higley feeds and my wire is still mia. Anyone have another source for a large amount of 1/2 inch hardware cloth? My order is 1/2 X 1/2 X48" X 100'. The cost was $100.00.

I'm getting fed up! I want a NICE enclosure (with an eye to expansion heh heh heh)

Going back to craigs list now.

This may be an already covered idea, but did you check Home Depot? I know the one up here has hardware cloth and some pretty large rolls.

Neither Lowes nor Home Depot near me have any but small rolls, and pricey. It'll cost me twice as much.

Daily I wholesale purchase large quanities of all types of steel for our company yet the least expensive 100' rolls of 1/2 x 1/2" hardware cloth that I've found locally is $148/48" & $110/36" at the Stock Shop, which is about $100 less than some of the other local places (I think Ranchers is just a few bucks less than the Stock Shop). I use a lot of 1/2 x 1" welded wire for other cages and the 100' rolls are $175/36" & $230/48".

Sorry to break up the trend and ask a different question. mclevinson I hope you get your wire at a good price.

I will be getting my first chicks in Feb and am designing the coop now. My yard has flood irrigation and I wanted to know if any fellow Phoenicians have any experience with flood irrigation. Can the chickens handle water every 2-4 weeks for a few hrs? Will they know to stay in the coop where they would be dry?

Thank you all for my other question that have been asked and answered on this site.

I've never had flood irrigation but I imagine they'd be pretty unhappy about it. The like a dust bath quite often and might get ....well...."mad as a wet hen".

Welcome to the board.
