Arizona Chickens

speeking of chickens inside the house there was an ad or criagslist where soemone was selling a skilie rooster but thats not all she would ONLY sell him to some one that would keep him in the house 100% of the time!

Thanks Mahonri! I'll take your advice. He will be the lucky guy living with the hens while I'll throw the rest of the roosters out into a bachelor's pen. Sorry for responding so late but we made a 500 mile trip to pick up a couple Llamas that needed a new home. Now I can knit my chickens a sweater next cold season from my own llama wool

Aloha chicks are hatching RIGHT NOW! Yay!

So cute - looks like a really good batch, a lot of those red colors I've been trying to get!

I have a bunch hatching now, more due on 25th, and set more for Feb 6th. PM me if you want some, they're $1 each if you buy the whole batch, or $2 each if you pick and choose only a few. Looking for project members, esp. BYC'ers to help with this breeding project. Will cross great with Speckled Sussex, RIR, and Buff Orps!

Too bad we are (totally) out of room.....

On a totally different note, I'm so sorry to hear about the serious health troubles folks are having.....I don't post much so you all don't know me well, but I read BYC every day (even without the stinking email updates since they only seem to work 1/4 of the time....grumble).

I truly enjoy seeing the support BYC'ers give to each other, as well as the photos & stories....laughing about the pooper scooper competition lately

I'm just thinking of you both ChrystalGail & TonopahPati and hope your health stays strong.

Oh, I also wanted to share photos of some Aloha roos at my neighbor's - of course I ended up with too many roos, so I gave a bunch to him. His dogs ate most of the boys, but these two made it to adulthood:

Aren't they pretty? Anyway, I have some extra baby roos right now, they're about two months old. They'll look like these as adults. If you want one for FREE, contact me and let me know.

Sorry to bump in here on the general conversation with Aloha announcements, LOL, just wanted to get the word out before I post on Craigslist. (I'd always prefer my chickens go to BYC members over random unknown Craigslisters.)

Now back to your regularly scheduled coversation . . .

BTW, I saw that Hoarders episode too - OMG, that was mind blowing! All the eggs . . . everywhere . . . chicks running around the spare rooms . . . whoa.

Tonapah Patti-- I am so sorry for your troubles. I hope the rest of your journey be smooth sailing.

Chrystal- uh...you should call me, girlfriend

Thank you Mahonri....yes he is a winner (some really savy breeder must have hatched that roo

) The Harem life seems to agree with him. His tail is sprouting new feathers like crazy!!

NoSkiveez you are one impressive lady. You manage those 6 million critters, take on huge projects AND have little ones in diapers?? I can't imagine how you find the energy...let alone patience that must take.

Good News. I called Brinsea this morning and my incubator is shipping this week! I couldn't wait....the sec I hung up the phone, I contacted this ] BYC Member and pre-ordered some eggs for Feb. Hmmm... not sure my link is going to work. But it is Maggsmagee, the colorful egg basket assortment. THEN, I logged onto this thread and saw Laree's babies. They are so cute. I may have to do some back to back hatches. Gonna wait and see how my first batch turns out. Mahonri, I may pester you to death for advice!!

Hope everyone has as great a day as I am having!!

Those Aloha roos are beautiful! Too bad we already have 2 roos. When I am ready to extend my flock, I think we are leaning towards more polish, some BLRW, and my kids are saying that we badly need some Japanese bantams (no idea where I could even find those!). Maybe someday we will get an incubator and be able to help the breeding of the Alohas.

AZBootsie--NoSkiveez really IS amazing. She didn't mention that those three are in CLOTH diapers. I use cloth, too, so I know how much work that is. And she homeschools her other two kiddos. Awesome!

chillmiller--you have some impressive equipment there. I am guessing it is not just for chickens. And I think you should take that indoor silkie. Just tell her you will keep it right inside (of your soup pot).
