OK...chiming in....I think that I am being talked about

We had about 25 days of weather from 95 to 105 last summer.....We are often in the 90's or more all summer long. So not as hot as Phoenix but....it still gets hot here. We do get lower temps in the winter and we do get some snows. I don't think that this is significantly cooler...but you might

Yes I do have Delawares....

OH! Delawares! No it wasn't you I was talking about but good to know you have them!! By chance do you sell POL? I know... that's like asking for the moon. The chick raising just drives me bonkers sometimes. I wish they could just all get along from day one! Back to wanting a broody... Maybe i could borrow someone's broody since everyone's incubators are all full

Constance - ChrystalGail has beautiful Delaware.

Mahonri - Congrats on the little miracles! So far 4 of 6 of your eggs have pipped. I haven't checked an about an hour. I try not to keep my face pressed against the window too much.

I have 12 Silkie chicks that I won't be keeping. 11 are NYD hatches and 1 is mid Jan hatch. Very reasonably priced.

Nichole, my girls like digging hole in the yard also. Today when we replaced the water some of it spilled onto the top soil in the garden and the girls went nuts. They dug, and rolled and dug and rolled. I almost thought I was dealing with pigs, but they were having the time of their lives.. I wondered if it was the water they were interested and put a big tub of water like a bird bath and they never did more than drink from it. Is your tractor coop hard to move around?

Hi Vanessa, We love the Spitzhauben flock. They are so full of personality and they are already starting to come to us. My son Josef finds favor in the roo and he is so friendly (Josef named him little Ricky) towards the children. They have been turning the garden for us and today we spilled water in the pen and the flock had the time of their lives. They played in the mud for hours and dug and rolled, it was the cutest thing to watch. We clipped their wings upon arrival and gave them a ladder and high perch that they are currently sleeping on. Today they resumed egg laying!! Yippy! I had no idea that you could actually love chickens.. They are all so beautiful..

welcome to the thread all you new AZ people.

I am on day 14 of my first attempt at egg incubation and have a question. I candled and weighed last night. 19 are progressing (moving blobs). But, they have already lost about 13% of thier weight. Up until now I have been keeping my humidity between 30-35%. Since they have already lost so much weight, I bumped the humidity up to 65%. Now I am worried it was the wrong thing to do.....any suggestions?? I know I could post it on a hatching thread, but figured the weight loss might be a AZ thing?? I haven't noticed any reasons the eggs would do this (none porous or cracked). I hope they are ok??

Martin - so far 5 out. I'm waiting on 8 chicks. Today is actually hatch day for them. I always have early escapees. So far, looks like 2 splash, 1 blue and 2 black. The other eggs are set for next week hatch.

Tammy - I'm so glad you are happy with them. Hatch day in the incubator that has your eggs in it is Next week. I hope they all hatch.

Yup. She's here to stay!

I don't have anything exciting to add. I am working through lunch again today.

....Every year, I am shocked and amazed how little people understand their own businesses. You would be disgusted to know how many business owners have zero clue about what TYPE of business they own----let alone what their tax filing status is.

Even WORSE,they ask ME ---as one of their customers---how they are supposed to know how much income to report to the IRS. Here is how those conversations are going:

Them: I didn't get a 1099.
Me: The W-9 you gave us says you are a corporation. You do not get a 1099.
Them: Well, how do I know how much I made? How much I need to report to the IRS?
Me: You would need to talk to your tax professional. They can help you out.
Them: Well, how do I know what to take to my tax guy?
Me: Dude, I am not your CPA. I can't give you tax advice.
Them: I am sorry, but I am new at this. Please take pity on me and hold my hand. Perhaps you could do hours of work on your company's time, go above and beyond the call of duty, and do extra work for me for free?
Me: My pity bucket is running low. You should have called after the 10th email I sent out.
Them: Pllllleeeeeeeaaaaase?
Me: Fine. You look at your company's financials for the year, and take that to the tax guy. Or, since I get the sense you are not that organized, at the very least take your bank statemnets, credit card statements, and other reciepts to your tax dude.
Them: Well can't you just tell me how much income I made?
Me: Are we your only customer?
Them: Of course not! That would be bad business.
Me: Then no.
Them: Is there someone else there who knows their "tax stuff" I can talk to?
Me: No.
