That is what I imagine my "americauna" is ... I'll have to see as she grows ... it doesn't really bother me either, except like you I would prefer to get what I think I'm getting. Also it would be nice to be able to predict what she will look like later other than just "a chicken". She is a super sweet chick and I'm sure she will be beautiful because as I have been researching I've seen a lot of really beautiful EEs. I read on here about the feed stores and americaunas under their breed thread. Mine is from Ideal Hatchery ... I called and asked which hatchery they order from, but can't really find if theirs are usually really the real thing or EE. Typing without contacts, hope not too many typos! So it also makes you wonder if most of the people on Craigslist who are selling "pure americaunas" are really selling EEs and don't know the difference. I mean if I ordered "americaunas" from a hatchery and started breeding them / raising chicks, that's what I would expect them to be and I'm sure I would advertise them as pure until someone educated me. Since we won't have a roo until we get an acre (probably 5 years) ... it isn't an issue. We just want yummy eggs, and beautiful healthy chickens. Blue eggs would be super fun too.
Oh, it's too funny. My son has been carrying Evie (RIR) around on his shoulder like a parrot - LOL!
