TT! :

Does anyone know where I can get an emu egg? I have this sudden urge to have emus.

I have one in my fridge. It should still be good....

I ALMOST put it in the incubator--- until Elite Silkies told me their "bark" can be heard for 1.2 miles.

Mahonri- Can I buy some eggies off you for the Easter hatch? I was not able to get Patch & his women in a breeding pen in time. I wouldn't need a ton, maybe 6?

Composters-- i dig that big composter. I have composter envy.

If that composter was closer to me I'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

I saw that lovely hatcher yesterday ... hmmm how to justify spending that much money - LOL!

LOL! Eventually you'll sell enough chickens to pay for it - LOL! That one on CL is nice, but then would need trays and all so would end up being a lot more than the asking price to get all set up. Still a good deal though!

My bator was ~$500

I bit the bullet after the old "incubator of death" killed 55 of Mahonri's eggs on the New Year's Hatch.

It still hurts my heart to think about it. The egg killing...not the $. I can always make more $, -eventually- but I feel guilty about egg serial killing.

Bob, are you telling me that is where this all leads to?

First Laree, now you! I saw one hatch on a live web-cam a couple weeks ago, it was neat. I was surprised at the sounds it made. I have to admit, baby emus are one of the cutest things out there.

Didn't you know baby chicks are a gateway drug?

re: the incubator, it doesn't have the automatic turner in it either, so add that to the cost of the trays, any possible defects/repairs, and no warranty. Just a thought. That's the same model as one of my bators though, and I do like it. I put the clear door on the one with no turner and use it for the hatcher, and the solid door on the one with the turner for the incubator.
