Beckyhsinglsc, I'm so sorry about your father.

ca, you had me on the edge of my seat with your egg-stealer post! Be sure to post pics of the auto-plucker.

tanichca, sorry to hear about your bird loss.

To everyone, my chicks are almost 6 weeks old and nearly fully feathered. It's time to find homes for them. Right now I have about 6 birds available, they are Delawares and Delaware X BA crosses. I think that about half are roosters and I am completely fine if your aim is to eat them. I can post or email pics if you're interested. The price is right.

I couldn't get in with Dr. Burke and Dr. Driggers was not in, so Dr. Funk was who was recommended to me. I do love Dr. Burke, but I detest the other two vets at Cornerstone who they often punt you to without telling you until you get to your apt, even though you make your apt with Dr. Burke. I've been going to Dr. Burke for probably 18 years or so, back when he was at the office at Superstition Springs. IF the other two guys (mismanaged my pets care, and led to death of one pet, and gross negligence to anther) were not in his practice, I would go there every time. Dr. Driggers is every bit as good as Dr. Burke for birds. Dr. Driggers used to work with Dr. Funk at Mesa Animal Hosp. so that's why we went there, he has been seeing exotics for decades.

Same here I've been going to Dr. Burke forever but will not see the others. I also had a pet die (a rat that we loved dearly) because of one of the other vets. I also caught a bad prescription mistake by the other vet that almost led to another rat death. The last couple of times I needed a chicken/rat vet I saw Dr. Driggers and was happy with him.
Can anyone recommend another vet in the Gilbert/Mesa area as good with dogs and cats (and as reasonably priced) as Dr. Burke? Dr. Driggers only sees exotics.

5pinkarrows: thanks, I'm doing mostly alright.

To all the newbies since I've been gone...

There is an awesome dog and cat vet at power road animal hospital. I'm having a total brain fart on her name. She is the holistic vet and works part time. You should be able to tell on the website. I'm stuck on "Becky" but that's not it and I can't get my brain off it to think if the right name LOL

Tanicha: I'm sorry for your loss.

Hey Becky,
The doctor at power road animal hospital is Dr Betsy. Thats why after looking at your name I was stuck on Becky. LOL. And I replied in the moddly of tour post. Arrgh. Happens when I reply on my phone. Anyway she is a holistic vet and great. Their price for vaccines is a little high until you realize they are all 3 yr vaccines. I've always called her Dr Betsy. But her last name just came to me. It is King. I'm at work so didn't have time to look it up

Wow, actually made some progress on the coop today. All four walls for the run were up as of Saturday. Today I got the henhouse framed quite a ways. The floor is in, the roof is in, and two of the wall panels are now on, complete with cutouts for the chicken door and nest boxes. The floor of the coop is painted as well. My wife also did a lot of primering on the frames of the walls of the run. Tomorrow I hope to have the henhouse pretty much closed in. If my back holds up and life doesn't get too crazy (two things I've learned never to take for granted) the coop may actually be ready for birds by the end of the holiday weekend. Meanwhile, we're thinking of moving the tractor to a spot where some weeds have decided to grow. I think I may have some feathered weed eaters that are up to the task
