Arizona Chickens

I'm sorry for everyone who lost chickens in the heat and I hope nobodies coop was damaged in the storm. I had a shade cloth ripped down and a few broken branches, thankfully nothing worse. It sure was fun getting soaked while chasing the silly chickens and trying to get them in the coop

Can' t wait for them to get used to it, still have to hunt them down at night to put them in it. Been a week now since their new chicken yard was done

tracydr and kevs chickadees!

I had a pair of Fayoumi given to me a few weeks ago but had to give them away because the chicken yard wasn't done yet and they were too mean for the chick pen. I did keep an egg from them and it hatched. I hope to get a few more eventually to warn of any trouble in the chicken yard. They are really really LOUD when grabbed and will make good alarms I think in case of coyotes or dogs etc.

SunBaked,
My chickens have gone into the coop ever since I installed a light (with a timer) that comes on just before dawn. They did not like to go into a dark coop

. Now they are always lined up nicely (except my TJ rooster who went under the coop one day and could not get out until I pulled him from underneath there the next morning. Ever heard a rooster try to crow in a small (low) space? He was so happy to be out that he crowed until he was horse

The chickens normaly run for cover when rain comes but yesterday they started acting like ducks having a blast in the rain intill it really started coming down then they finaly went in there coop. As for the ducks they where so happy. It was like there brains went crazy with water everywhere. LOL All they could do was run around the yard and dive in any and all puddles that had formed.

I am looking for some new muscovies if anyone has any ducklings! I am going to give my swedish to a friend and just focus on scovies now.

well, the darn beagle just got another EE pullet. she flew over the 6 foot fence with a clipped wing. bird netting is going up over the run DEFINATELY this week. i heard her all the way in the house and ran outside to find him attacking her.

she is still alive, i could not see any blood but her back has no feathers on it now, and i wonder if she has any internal injuries. i have her in a cat carrier in the laundry room. i guess time will tell. we will see what the next few hours bring.

Yikes! Maybe we should make "hen-saver" coats out of aluminum. My run is too large for netting

. Please don't send him my way! I have enough trouble this year dealing with one rattlesnake a week.

i can hear her coughing now. why do i have a feeling this won't end well? and why do all my EEs insist on flying over that fence? what is it with this mutt breed?
