Thanks so much Meg. Quite the excellent setup you have! You have inspired us to turn our backyard into a functional place rather than a pooping ground for Max (our dog, not our son!)

We are sorry that we couldn't take you up on your adoption offer, but I'd feel (read:wife would feel) much better having something in place first. And Tammy is, even as we speak, scrambling up the freshest eggs we've ever had for lunch!

And thanks everybody for all your great info!

Gallo - excellent information - your coop is beautiful! I have a slew of dumb questions if you have the time...

Don't the chickens eat the grape leaves / grapes?

I like the concrete foundation, did you cover it in soil & then added sod? or is it just a "stem wall" and the ground is left open? Or am I just seeing the sod in the run?

What type of finish did you use on the plywood that is non toxic - Polyurethane, varnish ets...?

Thanks again for all the good info!

Mikey

If I was closer I would scoop up, I need more chickens..I need more chickens...repeat slowly

If I didn't have to be back by 12:30, and if gas wasn't so darn much I'd drive them!

Hubby is leaving for work at 5 and taking the car versus the truck. If you have no luck with anyone else, maybe we can meet partway like Thursday or Friday, I would even take a roo off your hands....I need more chickens....I need more chickens.... I wanted to incubate some eggs with the 2 granddaughters here so they could watch, but not happening right now due to eggs are being sat on by the flippin broodies....
