Arizona Chickens

It is always better to keep them apart until they are of comparable size, but I regularly mix the little ones with the bigger ones. Just make sure your chicks have somewhere to hide when the big chickens get crankified.

Nope - not an OEGB breeder or breeder of any kind (can't have roosters), but I just took pics of my 10 week old Easter Egger bantams.

These are my favorites (not for sale, just wanted to share). I know EEs don't have REAL colors, but this one is close to a silver duckwing (might have to let this one go with the roo I listed on craigslist, but i'm hoping to keep her):

My Splash (super sweet):

And my Blue EE (also very sweet personality):

Very cute little ones. I hope nobody complains about the two Roos I hope to keep. Actually, three. Two OEGB, a silver Duckwing and a BB Red. And, looks like one of my 4 week old Egyptians is a rooster. I know my neighbors just down the street have roosters so I'm hoping I have a rooster tolerant neighborhood. The people to the back of me, on both sides have laying hens.
I'm way over allowable numbers but hopefully nobody will care. I also know someone who raises turkeys for meat nearby.

I feel very out of the loop right now - I've heard of the Beastie Boys, but don't know their songs

Thanks, Laree! I gave it a go and the red just wouldn't leave 'em alone. The buff could have cared less, but that red...it was like she was on the hunt!

. I felt bad for those little ones, so I took 'em out. I'll keep FR them together, and try again in a few weeks.

Maybe if you leave the younger ones in if the rest are okay, and put the red on timeout she will get the hint?

It all depends. I usually throw the little ones out there starting at 10 to 12 weeks but they have an area where the big ones can't go (narrow opening) and where keep their food. None of my groups have acted the same. My current batch of youngsters seems very adventurous and has figured out exactly how close to get to the adults so they won't be attacked. My two adult roosters are very patient thankfully. I had batches before that were much more skiddish and afraid of the big ones for ever. All depends on the breed, number of chicks, and the behavior of the group as a whole.
I always make sure there is food, water and shade available in several places so there is no competition.
I think as long as they have a place to go for all their needs your little ones will be ok. The adults should get tired quickly of running after them.

Laree,
I have to ask! Did you try that thing I brought you? Or did it end up with the dogs? Let me know your opinion. I can take critique

but only for a little bit.)

Well there is a good reason to mark Sierra Vista off of my list of potential places to re settle.

I thought I had found a quarter section at a reasonable price in Monticello, Utah. It was on the GSA auction site being sold as surplus property by the US Department of Energy. Then I was told that the property was re claimed tailings from an old uranium milling operation.

I let that go by.
