It is always better to keep them apart until they are of comparable size, but I regularly mix the little ones with the bigger ones. Just make sure your chicks have somewhere to hide when the big chickens get crankified.

Very cute little ones. I hope nobody complains about the two Roos I hope to keep. Actually, three. Two OEGB, a silver Duckwing and a BB Red. And, looks like one of my 4 week old Egyptians is a rooster. I know my neighbors just down the street have roosters so I'm hoping I have a rooster tolerant neighborhood. The people to the back of me, on both sides have laying hens.
I'm way over allowable numbers but hopefully nobody will care. I also know someone who raises turkeys for meat nearby.

Maybe if you leave the younger ones in if the rest are okay, and put the red on timeout she will get the hint?

None of my groups have acted the same. My current batch of youngsters seems very adventurous and has figured out exactly how close to get to the adults so they won't be attacked. My two adult roosters are very patient thankfully. I had batches before that were much more skiddish and afraid of the big ones for ever. All depends on the breed, number of chicks, and the behavior of the group as a whole.
I always make sure there is food, water and shade available in several places so there is no competition.
I think as long as they have a place to go for all their needs your little ones will be ok. The adults should get tired quickly of running after them.
