Home Depot and Lowes both sell Cinder Block foundation stones with metal securing hardware mounted into them. Then you are able to anchor 4x4 or 2x4 or what ever you like into them. I have debated about using them for the enclosed run, but have gotten the go ahead for a 7 foot chain link enclosure 30x75 feet now and will use those cement posts in the center to support the shade cloth/roof.

Thanks for the chickens. I kept them in the downstairs bathroom yesterday (gross...my wife wasn't super pleased), but the coop came yesterday afternoon and I got it set up late last night and put the them out this AM around 0700. They are all eating and scratching about. The Cochin roo seems to be the boss of the place aside from "Big Mamma" the bantam hen.

I'll post some pics tonight.


Do you have any pullets left?

WOW!! I will not show this to the Ladies or I suspect they will be hitching rides to your place! Ours is functional, but UUUGLY.

I love, love, love your setup. My husband said I spoil our chickens, then I told him about your gals. I can't wait to show him the pics! Talk about happy chickens! The eggs are awesome, by the way, too! Thanks!

They are in an enclosed run or tractor when I am at work but they free range when I am home but I don't sit out there constantly. They can get up on top of the coop which is 6' high and then it would be a hop over the wall if they had a mind to do it (they haven't yet, thank the Lord).

There are 3 of the 7 that I still haven't clipped yet. I also just want to be in practice of handling them so if there are other issues that require closer inspection neither of us get too excited about it! I've only had hens since May so I'm a newbie too!

How about netting from the top of the wall to the coop, and remove anothy that would allow them to hop up to the top of the coop from other sides. I've had flyers, but very few who could do 6' from the ground. Henrietta, our first chicken, who came with our house, could. She literally flew from the middle of the front yard OVER the house and into the backyard! I honestly think she was 1/2 airplane.

OK, someone asked. Here are a few pics of some of my Icelandics.

Saturday morning with the free ranging Icelandics.

Here is a pic of rose combed and crested Snjór, she lays cream colored eggs and pics Vindur's back.

Here is a pic of floppy combed and crested, Blettur, she lays nice sized white eggs and pics Vindur's back. Her tail always sticks out to the right.

This is a pic of rose combed, slightly crested Jörðin at one point in time I thought it was a pullet, now I'm thinking its a roo.

here comes the next one that I thought was a pullet until just the last two weeks.

This is "Morty" straight combed, tuftless mottled (no clue on the sex)

Here is Isi. She is tufted and straight combed (I think)

Here is Blárefst, extremely tufted single combed I think, pullet

Here is Eldura, tufted single combed I think pullet.

I have two like this... This one is a tufted straight combed pullet named Blárstrá

Here is an updated photo of Vindur. I don't know why those two girls that hatched with him like picking at his back, he also has the curved tail thing, it's always off to one side, never straight back, and that comb is ridiculous. When Dexter (no pic of him.) is of age and is doing his job with the pullets and hens, Vindur will be rehomed.

I think there are four I didn't get pics of. Two roos, a blue pullet and another white pullet.
