Arizona Chickens

mclevinson: I would so love to help with your coop, but alas, I'm 39 weeks pregnant and my brood (a 6 year old, 4 year old, 3 year old, 17 month old) would probably be more of a hinderance. I'll pass it by my hubby, but I'm not promising anything. I can make cupcakes for everyone, though!

My hubby just isn't a chicken guy. I mean he likes them, loves their eggs, and will buy them mealworms, but other than that, he's not interested. He couldn't fall asleep last night, so he asked me to tell him some "chicken stories"...they always "make him sleepy". I kicked him, he said he'd count sheep instead...I told him to count chickens.

Hi Gallo,
Serama roosters (or my Serama rooster anyway) are pretty quiet. If I'm in the laundry room when he crows it seems loud enough though! When he's outside, we don't hear him inside when he crows, unless the windows are open. If he's next to the shut window and so am I, then I can hear him a little, but not much. We do hear his alarm call faintly. We still bring him in for the night, just in case the people behind us are out on their porch in the morning. I don't know if they enjoy crowing ... even if it's not loud.

LOL, I did! I was going to do broody Mamma Cass, and then I decided Phyllis just needed to be there

The broody Mamma Cass picture wasn't as good as an avatar as just a regular picture. You couldn't really tell what kind of chicken she is because it wasn't cropped enough.

I want to thank everyone for their support and words of wisdom concerning my situation. Thank you all for those who came and got chickens 3/4 of them are gone to good homes. I have some roosters that are left that need new homes. The rehoming fee is $10 for 2. I have americauna's and giant cochins left. If anyone want some please let me know.

Once again thank you all for your support in this hard time.

Oi! Looks like I'm going to be toughing this out myself. BUT I've decided that when it gets cool we're gonna have a potluck bbq or something. You can make cupcakes then and I'll get to hold your baby. Maybe get a bouncy for all the kidlets that come (and mine of course).

My DH isn't an animal/bug/camping/weed guy. I'm in charge of everything that breathes or grows. He's in charge of movies, candy, frozen treats, and the boat. He informed me last night that I should have interviewed his ex-wife. HA! almost 14 years too late for that, lovey.

is it time??????? we just got back from vacay in mexico so i have zero concept of what's going on, although i had my laptop so i could "check in" and not go through withdrawl.

my neighbor took care of my birds for me. one dellie died from heatstroke and my poor blue cochin roo drowned in the pool. he was just a baby roo, not even crowing yet, poor thing. so when i left i had 20 and came home to 18. it could have been worse i suppose. the other day, laree and i drove around the city picking up baby turkeys, my ameraucanas that hatched while gone and all the chicks she had at her house that were in the triage unit. so i came home with 16 MORE chicks! turkeys stay at laree's, we don't want to give the fireman a heart attack
