Sounds like a South Park episode.

I posted this in the coop design and maintenance area but have gotten little response as of yet. (Yes OCD = impatient)

I know we have the creme de la creme in here so here goes...

I plan on using the DLM and am curious if I can use sawdust. I teach High School shop (Welding and Video Game Development) and have access to a seemingly unlimited supply.

My concern is, it is not all planner shavings - there will be sanding sawdust in there as well. Will this pose any problems (I'm thinking respiratory) for the chickens?

Thanks in advance Folks!

Mikey

I woulda taken them, but you are too far for two ratty used hens! LOL!

I was going to say the same thing, Laree. And, I really don't care for silkies but I bet my dogs do. They'd say they taste like chicken.

You can't feed my silkies to a dog! They are highly prized delicacies (in China).

All this talk of no TV has just put me into a big bummer mood, I was just about to ask who would let me bum off of there NFL Sunday ticket since I can't get a loan to purchase it myself.

Mahonri- I saved all my plastic containers from last week & started freezing scraps just for this week. I filled 3 chafing dishes with grass clippings and water & froze that too. Since the freezer defrosted Thursday, (someone left it open) I have nothing but space for chicken cubes....

Just getting ready to get some chickens here in Flagstaff! Hopefully will get them at the livestock auction at the fair in a couple of weeks. Desperately trying to get the coop ready in the meantime!

Has anyone used ponderosa pine wood chips instead of hay or straw to cover the floor of the coop? They're pretty easy to come by around here.

Seems like it would be okay, but I'm very much a know-nothing at this point, so would appreciate any advice on the subject.
