Is it still bleeding? a little septic stick or powder will stop the bleeding, or cornstarch. next time just leave it or if it needs off, twist. Icky I know, but yeah.

She seems to be fine now. Sorry, I panicked a little. (why isn't there an "embarrassed" smiley?)

There was only one drop of blood. I wiped it off with a paper towel and put a tiny bit of bacitracin on it and it seemed to stop completely.
I just seemed to remember reading something about if you pull off the umbilical, the chick is doomed.
Of course, I did it just as I had to run out the door and I didn't have time to do a search.

I'm down to 6 chicks now. I delivered 4 to my friend who ordered with me and 3 to Tracy.

I'll try to get pictures tomorrow, but it's another busy day. I'm sure I'll be able to do it Saturday at the latest.
In the meantime, this is a fun thread: I posted Daisy pictures. (she's an Ideal 236, our favorite right now)

TT! :

I have an extra lavender orpington rooster. He's almost 5 months old. I want to sell him. How much is an ultra rare lavender orpington roo worth?

How much does he weigh?

Chicks have full tummies and are settling down to sleep. All except one Cornish who keeps yelling. I think he's autistic.

Uh-oh! I hope the little one is ok....I don't have any suggestions/advice, but if you have a styptic pencil (for stopping shaving cuts from bleeding) I might try that....direct pressure, that kind of thing. I hope your chickie is ok.......

Don't be embarrassed. It's your new babychick. And one drop of blood is a lot for a little chickybutt. We totally get it.

P.S. When you are finding the "embarrassed" smiley could you find one that blushes too? I need it.

speaking of babychicks, our two Serama/Silkie mixes from NurseShelley are growling like crazy, and are so affectionate! They are still getting daily cuddle sessions, although now they have discovered my hair

They are also trying to dustbathe on my t-shirt (while i am wearing it) on a regular basis, which is just hilarious looking...with the blissed-out look and all.....I am going to try to get video of it!

I am hoping they are both hens, but I suspect the blonde one might be a little roo.....I will post a new picture soon!
