Arizona Chickens

I found the cutest little black kitten with white boots. He was sitting next to the chick tractor this AM. I caught him this afternoon when he was trying to get a drink out of the big chickens "wading pool". He's actually very calm, very thin, probably about 6 weeks old. Short hair, probably weighs no more than half a pound. Would anybody like him? I can neuter him if you bring him back when he's older. I've neutered a lot of kittens and have some medications for a mild sedation plus local.
He's a doll but we already have two neutered males. I've been seeing him in our tree and hiding in my boxes that I had stacked up to use in the garden for the past few days so I knew he w hanging around. I'm surprised he's so tame. He even purred while he was in my lap this evening.

Hmmm...

DIY kitten neutering.

If it was a Savanna Cat - I'd take him in heartbeat!

i cannot take him for certain. the 5 year old is severely allergic to cats, dogs, horses, etc. my cat went bye bye almost 4 years ago when we realized why the child was so miserable. he now gets allergy injections twice a week because he is allergic to everything, but not chickens!!!!!!!!! i think he could rub a chicken on his face and be just fine. not really sure that i want him doing that but just saying he could and not break out in hives and severe wheezing......

TT! :

It probably was.

The one at the pet shop was named George. And I remember the sign on his tank saying "yes, I can still turn around" . They had him for over 30 yrs.

I'm not going to tell hubby

Sounds like you are maybe out by my parents, and where I grew up. (off of Ajo and Camino Verde) So just where about are you?
I'm off of Mission and Silverlake. A small trailer park, with huge hopes to be out by mom and dad someday.

Good Morning Everyone!

I read all the posts through out the day, this is where I take coffee breaks. ;-) but it seems by the time I read them, no time to post.

This is a busy group! I love it though!

I've enjoyed all the pictures and posts!,

Mikey, you can never post too many! Love them and keep them coming! And it looks like your coop will be up in no time! The boys are working hard! Great job!! I need to get out and get our aviary put back together and ready for the quail! They've grown so much! I'll try and post a few pics later.

Our eggs ship on Monday, and will be getting 6 Easter Egger eggs, Can't wait! I was at the feed store yesterday and they had chicks! So soft and fluffy and just little sweethearts! It was hard not to bring a few home!

Our Serama's didn't work out, turned out all 4 were roo's! So we found them new homes and will start from scratch. Memphisjourney was a big help in helping me pick out a breeder and not far, so I will order eggs first week of Oct.

Gallo~
I spent hours yesterday researching sprouts! Oh my! what a selection out there! I'm anxious to start some for us too! The chickens will be having to share!

I've never sprouted for our family, so I don't know what to suggest you start with. If you google "sprouting seeds" many websited come up that give the nutrition and health benefits of them.

I have plenty of mung beans and bird seed to keep me busy in the meanwhile.

Well,
I hope you all have a great day!

We bowl on sundays with my parents, so I need to get moving and get ready.

CA, re: move. I've been working on it for a couple of weeks, and still haven't moved anything out of the house yet. TOO much crap in the (ashamed to say it) 5 car garage with only one car buried in it somewhere. I've been paying my brother to come over from L.A. to build, or help build (mostly build) the 2 new coops. The doors are going on the second one today, then need the paper and tiles for the roof, connect the 2 with a covered (hawk and owl proof) roof, with fencing buried all the way around since I've heard 2 pack of coyotes in the wash every time I'm there. The lady we bought it from just moved out FINALLY late Fri. night, so we can now move stuff into the house. I bought 2 cargo containers to get stuff out of the garage and yard. It's just been difficult with work being so busy to get anything done. I have hope though, not much, but still have some.
