Happy Monday everyone!

We have some roos to rehome.... one is a gotta-go now kinda situation unless someone has developed a 'stop-crowing' rooster hypnosis technique??? Two more also probably need homes sooner rather than later, then we will have a red pyle, self-blues and some duckwing OEGBs in a few more weeks or so.

Candidate # 1 is a Serama roo. He is a good boy, just now figuring out how to do 'his business' and and takes care of his 3 serama ladies. We don't know if he is fertile, etc as his ladies haven't started laying yet. I hate to give him up as he is friendly and a really good boy, but he is a little louder than we expected. I just don't want neighbors to complain and risk losing them all

Candidates #2 & #3 are the sweet Silkie/Serama mix boys that we got from NurseShelley (the ones on the dueling squeaky crow video). They are sweet, love to hang together, and extremely cute but will probably start crowing for real soon, and again I am just paranoid about neighbors...

The OEGBs are a couple of months now and still in the brooder -- we will probably have 6 or 7 Roos out of the 10 we ordered

to rehome..... so anyone potentially interested please let me know.

I will try and get new pictures of of the three main candidates up soon! Please PM me if you are interested or know anyone who might be...

Yes but I believe in early preparedness.

I'm wanting to get some appenzeller spitzhaubens

& there is a wait list that will be implemented in Jan or so.

Hopefully the girls will start laying around Feb.

Hey, Mikey, I had great luck with DE and ants if you keep it dry. I had ants in the coop after giving a leftover pie to the chickens and the DE did the trick. It's not overnight magic but it works pretty well.
For those darn desert fire ants, I finally resorted to AMDRO, I hide it inside of cinder blocks and then keep the whole area dusted with DE. The DE was hard to keep up with during monsoon, though because we have every other week irrigation, plus rain so it seems like I was always putting more dust down in their pen. Now that we only irrigate monthly it's not bad, plus ants have settled down for the winter.

& there is a wait list that will be implemented in Jan or so.

Hopefully the girls will start laying around Feb.

I think The Feed Barn had a pair of Appenzeller Spitzhaubens when we were there Friday morning; at least that is what they looked like. Might want to check with them, and then you could make your own ApZ chicks

oooooooo, she how she is mikey? enabler!!!! ya know, SS is MUCH closer to you and has some wonderful birds. plenty of purty breeding roos there with matching poofy headed hennies to go with it. weren't you the one concerned about the hatchery chicks picking the right slide to go down??????? just sayin'..........BUY LOCAL!!!!!!!! (but i whispered that)

I am still looking for a friend to go with my poor lonely turkey Blue Bell. I was thinking a duck or goose would be alright Don't want a mean chinese goose tho! Blue Bell gets along well with other breeds of birds.

Sad to say that the black chick that Cotton hatched died. But the mixed Silky chick is thriving and it is sooo cute. I named her Ivy or Ivan. She has 5 toes but no boots. She really is more silver now that she is older[about a week] Looks kind of like a splash but what do I know? Here she is.
SS, the chick we thought was a flip chick is no longer having trouble and so far doing super. How many weeks do the Silkies have to be before they can live outside?

Oh I was wondering about those ants. We don't seem to have fire ants. We have these real big black ants that aren't as mean but can give you a right nasty bite if they happen to get on you. I thought my foot was going to fall off! That was so painfull for most of the day!

What the heck are those!
