Yes, they can, along with other wild birds. I absolutely agree that hanging dead pigeons will have no effect on those left, and is beyond gross. If they want to hang dead birds or animals up, they need to do it somewhere that is completely on their own property!

Maybe they are from Osage Co, OK. There is this very strange ritual there of hanging spoonbill catfish heads on the front fence posts. It's very strange and creepy. These prehistoric skulls hanging all over people's fences, some people have 10-20 of them. I mean, they are very cool looking skulls but on the front fence by the road?
I wish I could find a picture to show everyone. I'd never even Heard of a spoonbill catfish before I lived there, crazy looking things.

That beats my dead pigeon hanging on the fence story.

That is weird. In MI I've seen people hang the heads of northern pike on fences, barn walls too. I'm O.K. with weird, but I gotta say, hanging dead pigeons on the fence is just plain wrong. I'm glad they're not my neighbors.

I have a cowboy rooster. Yesterday I was hanging around the area where I keep the little ones and I heard a tiny "jeeha!" After a while it repeated and I finally realized it was my Ancona

. I was about crying it was so funny. Unfortunately he only attempted to peck my video camera when I got back to get proof of the silly crowing. He must have been taking foreign language classes

Funny! My son says he (roo) has been practicing for several days now (his window is right next to the coop) and it sounds pathetic.

So, she's not egg bound?

Hmmm... do you have pics of her after you blow dried her?

I was looking at mine again today and she really does hang LOW like yours.

I ate the egg she laid today to see if my BW roo had done the deed with her. Infertile.

So happy that Meg has her bator up and running so she can do a test hatch for me for New Years!

I know he's been frisky with the Ams and the OE. One of the Ams eggs I opened had a bullseye!

I have to dust all the chickens EVERY OTHER MONTH TWICE. I guess I just need to get the feeder and put it in the coop where the outside birds can't get to the feed so they'll stay away.

I have a brahma that I just had to dust extra (3rd time in 3 weeks), I hate lice and mites, I've cleand that coop and SPRAYED it so many times.

Bootzie, want some more hens? I'm going to retire my old PW Leghorn. She lays about 3 eggs a week but she's over two. I also have a sister of the GCMarans you got from me. She lays about twice a week. Also a Black Star... same thing, lays about twice a week.

I also have two young EEs that I'll sell for $15 each if anyone is interested. One blue and one white with a crest. They just started laying blue eggs. Pretty hens.

What is with that? I've also seen people hang dead coyote, longhorn skulls ( ok, those are sort of cool but not until their dry and white), and all sorts of other animals on the fences. Must be a redneck thing. Osage county, OK is really redneck, right on the edge of the beginning of the Ozarks mountains with the Arkansas River running through and thick, thick forest/terrain. I always figured there's a lot of bodies buried back there we don't want to know about, just don't ask and mind your own business.
It's a beautiful area, though and I had 80 acres of he prettiest farmland you ever saw. Two bass ponds and even my own beaver family!
Ok, homesick now.
