Arizona Chickens

Oregano oil will due a lot of things if it's pure, or so my wife and her friends say. They just about live by those oils. It's been said that even cancer cells can't survive around oregano but what do I know?

I haven't used it much. Would it help with this stupid sinus headache I've had all week?
AZ chicken, I wish you luck, I'm sorry about your chicken.
Pastrymama, pm me if you can. What's going on with your BC's?

The "book" says your better off with lavender for headaches but then again there is a long list of different kinds.

We also could use the ghetto bird as a clock. It would circle every night at 9 and 11 and of coarse the multiple times there are problems. We just figured they were predicting something was going to happen at the park or the apts and were right most of the time. Back when we could get the police calls on the scanner we would just sit outside and watch all the emergency people rush up and down the streets to all the various calls. Cheap entertainment I know but hey I'm CHEAP!

I live SW of Falcon Field so the ghetto bird flight path is over my house as it heads to downtown/west Mesa. Oh, and we have the usual 3X a day circling at Frys on Greenfield and Main. During the winter the snowbirds cause about 3 wrecks a day there, 5-6 wrecks if it's senior discount day.

I try and avoid Apache Trail during the winter months just for that reason.

I know! Sometimes I wonder if that's why the Apaches left.

Probiotics can be bought for farm critters in a powder form that mixes in the water same as the apple cider vinegar. I keep a mixed solution in my fridge almost always and give them a quart in with their regular water. I used about a Tbsp of the vinegar in a quart of water.

Or you can just buy the capsuled/powder probiotics and sprinkle it on the food.

The oregano oil is a natural anitibiotic and should be treated as such, she may not like it its a strong herb taste I just put it on their food if needed and hold other food for awhile. Like 10 days on the antibiotic and then off...

Hope it all works out, I've actually never had that particular problem with my chickens, so keep me posted on how it works out!

I've got to get pics of the broody mama with the babies.

Got some lovely wheaten and blue wheaten girls from aurora today.
The Blue Wheatens are absolutely GORGEOUS.

I'm

and hoping for the best in Laree's and Meg's bators. I'm not planning on hatching too many out of mine cuz I can't get the temp correct. Oh well, it's fun trying anyways.

My hens freak out and head for cover when the police helicopter flies over. The darn thing flies by about ten times a day. They never learn.

Rufus

What is with that helicopter? I think they must think we're growing something here, they do flybys every night around 10-11pm for probably 20 minutes. My husband thought I was just being paranoid. I actually started putting it on the calender and clocking it. He finally believed me. They make a circle right around our neighborhood, I feel like they're circling my yard!

Here it is referred to as "the barrio bird." They fly up and down, watching the freeway.

When they loiter above the neighborhood for hours on end, we stay inside with the doors locked. Some nights they will be up there two or three hours shinning that spot light everywhere. You just know something really awful has happened, but of course there is never anything in the paper.

We live sort of mid way between a minmart and a dirty book store. The minimart is always getting robbed, but the dirty book store is never robbed.

My son put up security lights. When we put them on, the whole place lights up like a used car lot. Of course, since we now have that LED billboard, they are pretty much unneeded.

Rufus,

I hear that the legislature is going to outlaw billboards! I love that! I think they are ALL eyesores! I hope it passes.
But maybe your chickens will lay less without the added light?

With everything you are describing, I'm guessing you live somewhere near the 202 between 24th and 32nd. No verdad?

I doubt they will outlaw billboards. There is just too much money involved. They might make life difficult for some advertising companies, and then they will come to some sort of understanding with them.

You guessed wrong about where I live. I am along side I-17.

The state will be reworking the freeway starting in 2016, and I will be homeless. The work will begin in 2016, but I suspect they will begin property acquisition and clearing way before that so that they can do the surveying.

The Phoenix real estate market is in the doldrums now, but then all of those people living along that 22 mile stretch of freeway will be in the market for another house, and they will have their relocation allowances and the equity from their homes.

Buy houses now, and hold them until then.

Wrong again. I am between Dunlap and Northern.

My wife wants to move back to Mesa, but the Mesa she remembers is no more. It is all changed. When we go over there, it is like going to California; all different.

I really don't want to live in a subdivision again. I would prefer some place with land. I found some acreage in Monticello, Utah on the federal GSA auction site. It sounded good, but then I found out it was just tailings from a uranium mine. I think I would skip that.
