I have been talking to DH about it and we are eager to hear how it went, and want to know if it will work for our Serama roo (he's on the bigger side), more banty size.

thanks and hope it went (or is going) well!!!

Whoa! You're getting your rooster decrowed?! I might actually think of keeping a rooster, if it goes well for you. How much does the procedure cost?

It's not cheap. $100

Actually, that's pretty cheap ... I figured it would be more like $200, based on what I've heard quoted for parrots that needed surgery. Elvis needs to have it done!

I may have something along the lines you're looking for. I'm not exactly sure which of the three bantam chicks we hatched are roos, but it looks like we do have a roo in the mix. They're 12 weeks. These chicks aren't completely purebred, but they are pretty close. The father is a bantam Cochin roo and the mothers are a bantam Cochin hen and a bantam Ameracuna/Cochin mix. (We had a silkie hen go broody, so we gave her three eggs to sit on to keep her happy. Turns out all three hatched.) All three chicks are black and they seem to be fairly sane, unlike the silkie that hatched them
