?? All I know is he used an electro-surge instrument on his voice box. ??

ETA: My roo just died. I imagine it was internal hemorrhage. Shucks!

Well there you have it.

I wonder how many of Dr. Anderson's de-crowing operations have actually worked now.

DANG! I am so sorry

That is a good question to ask.

Now that's something you don't see every day!

Most likely one of the eggs was leaky (more common in warm weather). When birds are broody, they line the nest with their breast feathers.

OK Noel just convinced me to get some of those App Spitz birds.

And suggested adding in several different varieties & call'n them packing peanuts!

And I'm hoping that her couch is comfortable and the commute to my school is not too long!

Thanks for the advice

I'm really sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree. The two reds in the front look different from the PRs I got from Ideal at the same time as you did.
They are lighter in color and they seem to be much bigger and more developed in the comb/wattle area. I would guess those two are Red Broilers.
Don't they look different from the red in the back? Mine look like your red in the back.
All in all great looking chickens, though. Good job!

While I was happy with Kev's diagnosis - I'm pretty sure the small one in the back (darker) is a different breed.

She is also the most skittish one of the lot. I've never been able to hold her.

Well, here's hoping they lay well!

( I always wanted a Buff Orp too...)

The 2 in front look like my Rhode Island reds but mine are from a hatchery so I don't know if that changes their name at all? I didn't look to closely at #3 but then again I have no clue what a red broiler is, always thought of it as a meatie?

Good luck on your upcoming hatch. I was bidding on some W & BW Ameracaunas the other day by permision from the wife. It was going to be a birthday present but WOW they got pricey quick!
Goodnight all, see you in the new formatted BYC hopefully soon.

Yes, Red Broiler is a meatie. Still not sure what I have. We got the RB's for meat and the Production Red's for eggs. If they do not turn out to be egg laying machines I guess they could go to freezer camp. Although as mentioned before, I got pretty attached to One Dot. That would be quite traumatic (for me as well as One Dot).

And we are back.

This is going to take some getting used to.

I will truly miss the BST area of the old BYC.
