WAY too young for me to attempt a guess. But, really really cute!!!!

This is truly a WAG on my part, but if I had to guess, I would guess Roo based on the little comb 'bump' that's showing up already. This is based solely on what we've experienced here with little chickies here in the past couple of years, and we still are newbies....
Regardless I hope this little cutie fuzzy butt ends up being what you want him or her to be!

What's PBR?

My daughter guesses roo "because of the way he's standing and how his face looks". She's 13 and very "chicken observant". She can tell all of our chickens apart just by their faces even when they look the same to me.
I'm guessing roo because he doesn't seem to have many tail feathers and all the roosters I've had were slower to feather. Is this your only one? Do you have others to compare feather growth?
Of course, at this age, these are complete guesses.
You should post a picture each week so we can see the progress.

Please let us know how "he" turns out.

After 24 hours of observation, I really think "crusty" just has a corneal abrasion. (s)He is shaking his head and trying to "clean" the right eye, which is affected. The other eye is perfectly normal today. Very little drainage, and, although it was stuck shut this morning, it has been fine the rest of the day. He has no coughing/sneezing, or runny nose. I'll keep him (her?) in with warm compresses and the abx water for a few more days, but if everything is ok, (s)he's back outside. So far everyone else is just fine.

Dubby, She is really pretty. This is my Ivan which I wanted to be a Ivy. Wouldn't they make pretty chicks together. I will have to sell Ivan. What breed is Harvey? Ivan is half silky and his daddy was a mutt. Ivan does have 5 toes on each foot.

Ivan's a good looking rooster, wow! I wish that I could take him off your hands but, alas, I'm in city limits. Harvey's a Silver Spangled Hamburg, and would totally make pretty chicks with Ivan. Too bad you're not keeping him :(

Edit:
Oh, and I forgot to mention! Poor Harvey doesn't see very well, but she makes do.

Beckysinglsc, PBR = Plymouth Barred Rock.. I don't know if that is a real initial, just what I use.. This peeper is the only chick for now.. The old gal lays four eggs, hatched one, then raises the chick.. When she dumps the chick at about 8 or 9 weeks, then she goes broodie again.. Her last one was a roo, and he had a lot more comb at this stage.. Not sure at all right now, that's why I asked.. She's a good mother, but going on 5 years old now... This one has tail feathers, they just don't show is this photo.. (I'm not the best photographer with my old camera)... lol Thanks folks for all the guesses. At this early stage, it's always a guess.. Keep your fingers crossed that maybe you have all guessed wrong.. ( I wanted a pullet)...

I can't wait for the feed! I have been using feed from Wal-Mart *gasp!*. I know, I know...I shouldn't even admit it, but I was desparate. My girls have all but stopped laying. They have laid about 2 eggs the past week. Can food really do that? My four pullets from last Easter's hatch STILL haven't started laying. Maybe they'll change their minds with this new food.

never fear, remember my dark brahma that hatched last february????? she just laid for the first time i think yesterday. is that a record? i swear i don't know why i insist on keeping dark brahmas, except they are pretty but like silkies constantly broody. i have one sitting on silkie eggs right now while i have the new bator filled with quail i have now idea what i'll do with.

The other day my computer froze up and I had to turn it off manually. Well when I got back on I found that I lost all my thread subscibtions and for some reason I can't reload them. I tried many times! What a pain!

Dubby, I sure wish you could have Ivan. I am going to have a hard time letting him go! Poor Harvey! Why can't she see well?
