Arizona Chickens

awww TT, I hope you find a way to weasel yourself in some chickens! We used to live in an HOA...AAHHH!!! They allow stinky and LOUD barking dogs at all hours of the day and night...but they turn their noses up at the amazing chickens? Bah!

EEP! So there is not much going on tomorrow? Buggers!

I dont think i saw any turkeys for sale. The only thing that is going on tomarrow is the people picking up their animals that they showed the day before. I would be wrong, but people can start checking out at 7:00am. maybe aurora or sonoran can give you an idea if there in anything going on tomarrow.

Great day today! Glad to put some faces to names and I like many others didn't get around to introducing myself, sorry. Maybe everyone could point out who they are in the pictures? Great job on the shirts Mikey, my kids wore them all day and they are famous for changing clothes hourly.

I haven't planted my moringa seeds yet, so I'm not sure if they will or not. Pimachickens sprouted hers before the winter, so maybe she can answer that. I tried growing Goji berries. It was relatively easy to get them started. I cut the berries into pieces, put them into a damp paper towel and placed that into a ziploc bag. My problem was that they never really did much after that. They grew to be about a foot tall and were very wimpy looking. They eventually died in the heat after a few months. I have to say though, I never gave them the best growing conditions and I severely neglected them. I didn't yet have my garden going and I'll bet they would do much better in good fertile soil. Now that you mention it, I think I might try again.

I did sprout my moringas early. I was just so excited, I couldn't wait!

I planted them the day I got them (and they are doing great) but they are indoors in pots so that really doesn't answer the cold weather issue. I don't know if this means anything or not, but I put one in the ground and two in pots and the one in the ground never did anything. Maybe too cold? I haven't seen Meg Moringaseed or Bob's Henhouse around for a bit, but they are the only ones I know of who have had them longterm. I don't think I will be brave enough to get them outdoors until it gets much warmer, but hopefully they will be well established enough to make it through next winter. Of course, the Tucson climate is a bit different than yours.

I have been a great help, haven't I?

the fireman was a little displeased that i came home early today from caring for mom to find all these wonderfuls, but my dad finished up work early today. it's 2 weeks still to my bday, but i have a feeling that those eggs weren't going to sit there that long.

i told you mikey........i want the world, i want the whole world..............

It was awesome to meet everyone and finally get to put names to faces. I really enjoyed being able get out for a day and hang out with adults and look at all of the chickens. And talk about chickens. And about things that weren't chickens. Special thanks to MikeyD for making the shirts and for giving me a ride to the show.

There were a couple of turkeys for sale, but I don't remember what kind they were. To be honest, they looked a little bit skanky to me. I managed to make it back from the show without any new chickens, which was really hard, since there were some real beauties there, especially auroarose's Red-laced Blue Wyandottes and some Lav Orps. I wanted both so badly, but...I kept reminding myself that I had a brooder of chicks at home.

Our Turkeys are about a year old now. The males are prancing around and now and then a female takes him up on it. They are Blue slate. We chose those because they will breed and we can have our own stock....The females are laying eggs and I am trying to hatch in a brooder...These blue slates are so sweet. The males are gentle and the females are curious enough to want to be held and petted. We started with 15 and have sold some....We want to sell more. There are 3 males left and six females. We have our favorites but will part with 1 male and 2 or more females. If anyone knows of someone who wants these lovable Slates let us know. [email protected]

Thank you!! Bummer, I didn't realize Bob had moringa trees. I could have asked him last month when we met to pass the seed box. But he is close to me and our temps can't be that different. I started mine indoors about a month ago and have them under grow lights. They seem to be tall, but wimpy.

Looking at this schedule, looks like it was a one day only deal. Saturday. I guess I missed it

Maybe next year.

State fairgrounds. Enter on 17th Avenue off of McDowell. We are in the Home Arts building: immediately south (to the right of, as you are facing it) of the lime green building that will be off to your left. After you come past the parking booths, you will have to make almost a u-turn. Parking costs $7. When the fair is going on, I have parked along the street on 17th south of McDowell with no problems. But it is not the best part of town, so...

Pastry Mama, tell them you are a vendor to the poultry show--vendors are supposed to get in free, and with your girl scout cookies...I would consider you a vendor.
