Arizona Chickens

Pastrymama post pictures of your basque chicks. I want to see those little buggers. Where did you get your Wellie and FBCM eggs? I'm starting to get the chick fever...

Darn english language...one word having multiple meanings. I was going for this meaning of story (gunning for the true, not fictitious):

sto·ry

1    [stawr-ee, stohr-ee] Show IPA

noun, plural-ries, verb, -ried, -ry·ing.
noun
1.
a narrative, either true or fictitious, in prose or verse, designed to interest, amuse, or instruct the hearer orreader; tale.

I know! I had no idea they were so amazing! It all started with a small handful of chicks to eventually have eggs. Then I learned that they had personalities and were better entertainment to watch then TV! So much for "just having a couple for getting some fresh eggs to eat".

I thought DH stood for Dumb Husbnad.....just kidding. Novaleigh- your chicken math got way out of control in a few weeks, just imagine if you had incubator!!

Hello Arizonans!
This is an amazing site!! I live just south of Casa Grande, AZ and am planning on getting some chickens. Maybe just 3, 4 or so I haven't decided yet. I have a 10' x 14' area that my husband and I decided would be good to give to the chickens. I have a 3 year old and 22month boys, so I think I want baby chicks so they can get used to being social.
I am thinking about Ameraucana (with the pretty colored eggs), and something that gives a lot of good eggs... (I hear a lot of chickens do that!). maybe a duck too? I don't think I want a rooster...
Right now we only use a dozen or less eggs a week because I only buy them when they are on sale, but we can Definately use more than that! Anyone know where I can get Ameraucana and other chicks locally? I would like to get them from another individual before I go looking at a store.

Looking for pets that just happen to lay eggs.
