No worries about fainting from me. When I was younger, my family butchered our own livestock, including cows, goats, chickens, and more. I had to carry the cow parts (they felt weird) to a deep hole to bury them. Also, a little TMI perhaps, I worked on male and female cadavers in anatomy and physiology when I was going for my nursing. Very interesting. But yeah, would love to learn how and get some hands on education. And, would love to meet some of the fellow BYCers!

Aurorarose, You gave me 6 paint eggs. All hatched but only one shows the spots. Will any of the other show up as a paint? I really don't understand what a paint is? What do you think of the little Vaulted head chick? Hope its a hen. Would like to show her. I am sure she if one of the full silkies.
The other 3 eggs died right before hatching. When I opened them up they looked turned wrong and dry. The air sack was large. None of the chicks was alive when I opened the egg. What went wrong? They sure looked full term?

Well Gang, I got 11 chicks out of the 14 eggs. 3 are not pipping yet. I am so excited! Thank you Aurorarose they are such beauties! I learned what the lump on the head is. Its called Vaulted Head. It dates back to when the silkies were bred to polish to introduce different colors. The Vaulted head is desired by some of the show breeders for it makes for a bigger more fluffy topknot. It is really the brain with out a scull bone. They can get hurt if they happen to get hit in the head. Never can you breed a vaulted head to another one for a fatal gene will acure. I may even have another chick with that but not as big.
PUFFYCHEEKS, LOVE THAT GOOSE TALE. WISH I HAD SEEN THAT! Here is pictures of my new peepers!

Congratulations!! You did great!! Mine are due to hatch on the 9th and then I think the 17th is the day to set again for the Easter Hatch-a-long.
