Chris: so sorry to hear about your hen. Its always sad to lose an animal.
Pastrymama: I have a SLW that I'm going to be selling pretty soon, to make room for the younger pullets. Just sayin'.
Mahonri: It looks like none of the roos you kindly gave me for meat are going to end up in the pot
On Sunday, SherrieT is coming up from Tucson to get the Icelandic roos. Unless I can convince my husband to try again with roosters and we decide to keep one. They're so beautiful, I can't bear the thought of eating one. My neighbor came over and apologized for what her dog was done, and insisted on compensating me for the loss, which I thought was very good of her. I just asked for about what four chickens would have cost me at the store, even though I felt a little bad about it, since I was really asking for the future value of the roos. Anyway, a few minutes after she left, a lady who lives at one of the apartment complexes down the street was at my door, asking if she could do any work for me, since she needed money for her electric bill. I had some yard work that I needed done, so I gave her the money that my neighbor had given me for the roos her dog had killed. So, even though the roos didn't end up as dinner, your generosity had good, if unexpected results.
Novaliegh: It was so nice to meet you and talk about chickens and so on. I hope we can get together again sometime, and I hope you'll post pictures of your anniversary roo once he's grown. Congratulations on your anniversary, I hope you have wonderful day.
