You're welcome to her eggs (if you are willing to brave Bliz's protective instincts--she seems to be brooding

) Just realize that my other goose, Lucy the chinese, is also female. I suppose it is possible to have a sebastapol/muscovy hybrid

but I think the geese have him too cowed. I did notice one of the barred mutt cockerels mating with one of the muscovy girls. And Lucy was mating one previously.

WAIT A MINUTE. totally kidding about the geese with the tutus. i could never hide those. but you have male and female muscovies????? can you pen them together for a bit so she'll lay a duck and not a barred ducken?

otherwise i will have to go over and see what's up at puffy's place. i am down with the muscovies! sorry will, no bats this time around. the fireman will notice when i fall off the ladder trying to hang the bat houses. he rarely visits the hens. the sound of my welsummers will mask any sound they could make.

will,

i did google the bat houses and them controlling the bug population. very interresting read, not dismissed, just not sure if the fireman will go for it or tell me to put on bug spray. i do like the idea of muscovies, will be goggling that one next. then i can pitch some ideas that he will most likely laugh at and tell me no. still waiting for a turkey pen he agreed to and then took back.

We built bat houses with the cub scouts several years back.

I prolly still have one kicking around here somewhere.

I had Muscovy's when I lived in Washington. So cool how they hissed rather than quacked. They were incredible parents but the males drove me nuts with raping anything in sight. And they lived in a perpetual state of, uh, preparedness. I was always surprised they didn't trip over the thing all the time.

I don't know about geese but the muscovy ducks, well, the best I can compare it to is a dogs "lipstick" It doesn't externalize until the "thought" is there and my male muscovy's always seemed to be "in the mood".
But then they had really good conditions there. Free range. Good male to female ratio. Lots of insects. They were in a ducky Garden of Eden

I can't get that thought out of my head!

The thought of them tripping over it was bad enough!

Plus muscovys have WICKED claws. Seriously, check them out

(in my mind) I can still see the scars I got from trying to load some of them into cage.

Claws? Hissing? We are still talking about a duck, right? Mikey, I might need that bat house. Oh, can you also hang it for me before the fireman gets home?
