Arizona Chickens

I truly love our flock mistress. Every time your on, I learn something new. Were you a teacher at one point? You explain things, so that us normal newbies to the breed, understand it. I love that! I follow all of your posts. I'm always anxious to see what you say next.
With all due respect.

Gee, thanks. I've taught preschool, but that was quite awhile ago. I just am faascinated with genetics and chickens :) And understand best by analogy, so that is how I try to explain things most of the time.

Just gathered up the peepers for bedtime.

They don't go into the grow out pen to go to sleep - that would be too easy.

They huddle up against the corner of the house.

This way Tammy & I have to go out and collect all 14 of them and put them in the pen.

We usually wait until they have settled in so they are easier to catch.

Silly peepers!

Since I need feed for the girlies, I will be there. Will see what the backyard chicken class is all about.

* Backyard Chicken Class with Greg Peterson at 12:30

Do you have a light in their grow put pen so they can go there? When the little girls were in their "grow out" part of the run, I got some of those $1 solar lights at Wally World and put them in their coop. No more picking them up and taking them to their room. Now that they are big girls, they go into the Big Girls Coop on their own. We have an outside and inside light on a timer for the coop. They all seem to make their curfew on time. I still go out after "lights out" and "tuck them in" and say good night.

mikey

the fireman put solar lights in the duck house that he picked up at HD, but maybe harbor freight had something too(aren't you proud i knew what HF meant???) but the silly ducks won't go in their nice duckie house, they sleep under the basque house. i have tried to pick those things up and put them in, but by the time i get two ducks in and go back and get the other two, they run out. i am going to take a pic of them tomorrow and text it to you so you can see how cute they are. not scary at all. and they like peas.

Solar lights at Harbor Freight cost more and are not any better quality (worse, probably) than at Walmart, target or Walgreens. Most of the time Harbor Freight has better prices, but not on solar lighting.

Good Info!

Odds are, quality wise, it is all going to be cheep china chit...

This is me comparison shopping...

I like the solar idea so I don't have to run an extension cord and or timer
