I've been wondering the same thing!

I also read her blog - it's hilarious and has good recipes - and she hasn't been on there in a while either (although her other contributors have been)

So ideas on cheap protein...

Pretty much any source is not going to be organic (cept maybe mealworms)

Canned fish from the dollar store.

Cat food or dog food (canned or kibble)

Small misbehaving children...

... oh, and once an egg eater, forever an egg eater... you either need to rehome or get roll out nest boxes.

How can I honestly re-home an egg eater?

I will be glad to take any egg eaters off of your hands.

I have a never fail cure for egg eating. It involves prolonged exposure to salt, pepper, some celery and a few carrots.

so sorry about your chickies and the scorpion. i would never have guessed that you have scorpions at your house! put that muscovy drake up on the patio like a watch dog with a black light attached to it's head. one of mine jumped up and ate a BEE yesterday! they're not totally worthless. next spring i am going to hatch out some for mikey and he'll be hooked.

I agree. I cant believe that you have scorpions. Maybe where I live in literally the midde of the desert, but not in a developed neighborhood. YIKES!

What a great surprise when I got home today. Mama Hen Gretchen had just come out to stretch her legs and I went to check on her eggies. This little one just popped out and I ran and grabbed a camera before Mama came running back to sit on her.

Baby EE chick hatched at 4:45 pm May 3rd! I am so EGG-Cited to have seen it happen.
The eggs are due 5/5/12
