Hey If you can keep it feed store price for me I will take 4 of the turkey chicks. Pick out differant shades for me. It has been a very low money month. Les had to have $700 worth of dental than other medical has been over $100. Need less to say payments are going up! Bring them when you come get goaty. I have some silkies to GIVE you if you want them.

This is a pretty friendly group of Chicken Lovers. I think you will like it here!!

Billiam- Being an RN for more years than I care to admit, has made me a bit of an expert on unpleasant odors. Take my advice and hang the traps away from your porches and doors. They work great but after ripening a couple of days the smell will gag a maggot.

Fuzzybird- I have lost track of time. How are your eggs doing?? Has it been 3 weeks yet?? Any babies??

Hatch day is the 17th. All is going good so far. Temperature is steady. I have not and not going to candle them unless I do it at lockdown. Should I unplug the turner and let them hatch in that or use the egg carton method?

FuzzyBird- Either use the egg cartons or just set the eggs on the wire base thing. Take the turner out on the 14th or 15th. If the chicks hatch in the turner, they could fall through the holes and get stuck under it.....catch a limb between the slats....too risky.

Darwin- It is still in the planning stage......but.......Rocky is coming home!!!!!!!! So after quarantine, orientation and some TLC time, I will hatch some more crested EE's!!!!

Just found this from when they were a few weeks old. I had just fed them some meal worms and instead of them each finding one of their own they will chase each other until it drops and so on. They still do this even today!

Yuck yuck....yesterday I found a little tiny moving speck on the bare chest of my eldest hen. I checked three more and found nothing, no eggs, no more bugs. My daughter has her birthday party this weekend so dipping is going to have to wait until Monday night. I am so not looking forward to that. I forgot what people suggested, but I was going to try dog flea and tick shampoo and dip them, in water with the suds already in it, then dip them in clean water. Is that the way to do it?

This is all we use for years , dust all animals ,put in all sleeping areas even in theyre feed as a wormer/ect. . Safe for all animals and humans. Cost about 12.00 for 50lb bag last forever. if you ever get fleas in your carpet just sprinkle this let it set a few days and vaccumm. I put it in my horses feed and poo has no smell flys dont bother them either. works great on ants and scorpions, snakes. my dogs, chickens ect no fleas in years

I will have to look for this! The flies are just so aweful! I have 6 ducks and they seem to not be interested in catching and eating flies at all =( Yet their poop sure brings them around in droves!

My daughter went to collect the eggs. She found one and was bringing it back into the house. A fly landed on her leg, Agave (our turkey) saw the fly. The turkey pecked at the fly, which startled my daughter, and my daughter dropped the egg. The egg broke and a swarm of cluckers came over and devoured the egg. I told my daughter..."Now Agave knows that you poop out an egg like a chicken when he pecks at your leg." My daughter: "NOOOOOO!!!!"

Most hilarious reason to be denied an egg..... so worth it =) Kids + poultry = endless amusement and fun! LOL!
