Arizona Chickens

Quote: Funny you should ask...

So have you (or anyone else for that matter...) squatted down and hand fed your cluckers a treat bigger than one mouth-full?

(of course you have)

I have been wanting to get a cam that you could clip onto a hat (or a head) that would see pretty much what I see.

Then do a series of videos that show the chooks devouring various things.

I envisioned it when I held a half an apple for them and watched it disappear.

Odds are that only the weirdos on this site could appreciate something like that but hey,

Weird is as weird does Fival!

Mmmmmmm, I actually think that is an awesome idea! :D

Quote: Me too!! Inventing chicken videos is one of my favorite pass-times while cleaning out the coops....not that I ever make any, just a way to entertain my brain while doing mindless chores.

Right now I am over flowing a grow up pen and bachelor pen with over 20 mischievous, energetic cockerels. Last week a couple of them decided to attack the rake and I planned another video. Images of cockerels doing rotten things.....scuffling with each other, attacking bare toes, learning to crow, hopping the fence to eat my garden...choreographed to that Bad boys cop show song. I could put mirrored glasses on my granddaughter and film her riding up on her tricycle wearing her pink helmet. She could charge the gate with a water pistol in hand. Last scene would be her sitting in the pen with all the cockerels hopping in her lap and eating out of her hands.

Bad boys, Bad boys, Bad boys...what ya gonna do when they come for you

Yeah Mikey's right....Chicken people can be weird!!

Sooo.... this "weirdness" some of you seem to have with the videos and the cuddling and the I-don't-need-to-shower/do-dishes-this-month-as-long-as-the-chicken-needs-my-tub/sink thing among others.....

Is this something that just happens once you get the chickens (like a condition they bring with them and transmit to the humans who keep them), or is it more like a latent condition that certain people have and it's just activated by prolonged proximity to poultry? Is there immunity, or is it like "chicken math" which seems to be a pervasive certainty?

Off on a 2 week vacation. We are going to be driving up to Oregon for my 20 year reunion and to see family. I will likely not be around for the next two weeks, nor will I attempt a catch up when I get back. So far all ten of my girls are tolerating the heat well and I have had two days in a row of 8/10 for egg production. Still not sure what the deal is with my Jersey Giant as she shows no signs of interest in becoming broody but her belly is bald and she hasn't laid in a few weeks. Hopefully she's just to hot to lay and she's pulled her feathers out to stay cool. I am hoping that after being gone for two weeks and having others care for my birds that they will survive the heat and storms.

Count me in as one of the weirdos! I'd love to see some chicken video, but I'll pass on Mikey in the shower!!!

Never met the guy, but I was thinking the very same thing! ;-)
Y'all are cracking me up.... I think I *HAVE* to get chickens now, or I won't have any reason to be lurking around here, giggling...
