Arizona Desert?

Hello all you other AZ folks, I'm up here in Golden Valley, which is just outside of Kingman. Not too far from the Verde Valley. We don't hit 110 too often, but it does happen!!

My garden is not in either, but not from lack of desire. Too much other stuff goin on.

Very nice. I do a little gardening on the side too. Sometimes it seems like a full time job. Feel free to dig through the old newsletters for info. The planting guides will probably be off a bit for your altitude.

I have in some veggies, but something keeps eating them just as they come up. Not rabbits, I have it fenced off so I am not sure what is getting the plants. They seem to leave the transplants alone.

I have finches nibbling the leaves of my sunflowers right now. Crazy things. I think that they got some of the seed leaves on my pole beans too.

What pole beans whatever it is ate the first leaves as the pushed up through the soil, they all died.
OT but did everybody know there is a poultry show coming up in Tucson? It is May 12th.

Oh man I miss AZ. Went to school in Tempe and then up to Camp Verde to work and live at Montezuma's Castle. The management office of the casino up there used to be partially owned by the park service as the headquarters for the area. The Yavapi-Apache have a story of the tower there and how it looks like a Ladder that leads from the "underworld" to the world that we know.

NewAgers would come dip their stones in the water at Montezuma's Well. Some believe the power was on the one side of the cave others believed it came out from the other. And Bell Rock is actually a space ship gathering it's people to take back to where they came.

Dunno if it is still there but there was a place outside of town called Red Tank Draw, that had come really cool petroglyphs if you walked thru the canyon. Could only go there in the late summer because before that and after a heavy rain, the canyon would be filled with water. Got pictures somewhere of me and the dog floating down the waters of the creek. There and skinnny dipping in, let me think, Beaver Creek or Clear Creek out behind the "Castle".

Oh memories.....................

Eureka! I have found other desert rats at last! Now life is good. ^_^

I'm down in Phoenix proper. Hoping to migrate further north, though, once I'm in/graduated from college. Don't get me wrong, I can deal with the heat, but up North is always so nice when I go up there.

And, yeah, Coyote, I agree that it does seem (to me, anyway) that AZ is kinda the hub for New Agers. Blech. Silly humans...but then, I'm an even sillier human.
