When is your hatch date??

Mine are due to hatch May 5th. I have 33 eggs developing right now, lockdown on Monday.

I have each egg marked and will keep the chicks separated until they individual chicks can be banded with what hen they came from. I set 10 White Leghorn eggs and the rest are various stages of Leghorn X Ameraucana crosses.

Well some of those eggs are up to 2 weeks old, I threw in everything I'd been setting aside as I had to plan ahead for hatch day. They went in Wednesday, so lets see, that would be the 18th. Although as I recall they can take a little longer to hatch.

Oh those are the egg separators i made so that I can keep them separated based on the hen that laid the eggs before banding. Many of the eggs, including the leghorn eggs, will be sex linked at hatch. The other 12 or so chicks will not be so I don't want to get them mixed up!

Luckily we had some scrap Lexan (a very durable polycarbonate material) that I could use to make separators that fit perfectly along the walls of the incubator.

I will warn you that unless your baskets are covered or dividers go all the way to the top that your AB's will come out. They hatch slower than usual but are absolute maniacs in the incubator from my previous experience.

Hi, everyone! I just had to check in. I really miss everyone and all my flocks. Hope everyone is having great hatches and healthy chicks.

Hi Crystal!

The Maniac nature does not change. I have a plumb tree in the back yard that has bloomed and has fruit. When it was blooming, I saw a bunch of hens out under the tree looking up. Then some blossoms fell to the ground. Sure enough, my two Ark Blue hens were way up in the tree knocking off the blossoms!

They were back up there yesterday getting to some of the little baby plums.

Sometimes I wonder if they are a bit Magpie!
