Arkansas folks speak up.........

Thank you gritsar!
Hmmm...I wonder if I can convince this lady to hold onto a trio for me. She's in Wye Mountain and she did say that she always has this breed. I myself did think that 6 weeks was pretty young, and as much as I love the breed, my weinerschnappers wouldn't allow them in the house.

I can't go putting the chicken before the coop! I've already convinced myself to wait until spring to hatch anything because my DH has promised to build me another separate coop and run so I can hatch babehs. Meh...but there's always the shop, his shop! And a nice big wire cage inside a large box with a lamp....

Hi to all you Arkansans! I'm just outside of Arkadelphia in the country. I live on 3 and 1/2 acres with my 3 chicken lovin' kids. I see most of you seem to be from the LR area or up North. A few of you are from Camden though, which isn't too far from me. I have some family roots there. Who knows, you might even be family!

Welcome Amanda's mom it's good to have you here. I met your daughter and grandbaby and they are great!!!

Amanda, it was nice meeting you. It was great talking to someone that doesn't think I'm crazy for talking about my chickens. We will have to get together again some time.

Good luck on the hatch. It will be interested to see the color of the silkies because the roo is white and I have white, black and blue hens.

I am going to have to get some of Jackie's silkies eventually. It's inevitable when you have chickens, isn't it? That you'll succumb to the lure of the silkies?

NP, will you want chicks or eggs? I have to warn you I don't keep mine seperated and this summer I got some interesting colors. The fox killed all of my buff silkies but I had hatched some so I have some back ups.

Just let me know if you want chicks I will get the bator going.

Hi y'all!! I'm in Louisiana, but just south of El Dorado, and am wondering if we have any folks close around here. I'd love to meet some BYC'ers in this area.

Hi! At least a couple of us will be in El Dorado Saturday for the Poultry Show. It's from 8 - 2 at the fairgrounds.
I'm not really close, about an hour away from El Dorado. There should be some others closer to you, though.

POULTRY SHOW IN EL DORADO?????? OMG! I didn't know we even had shows in this area. Will it be a big show? How much to get in??

Gotta talk to dh.

I emailed the people in charge of the show and this is the reply I got.

Thanks for the interest in our show. Yes it is open to the public. It's Nov. 1, the barn opens at 7 am. Judging starts 9am. The show is usually over by 2pm.
If you come to the show look us up and we will try to answer any questions you might have. Hope to see you there.

This all I know about it. It is the South Central Regional Classic. It's hosted by the South Arkansas Poultry club.
